XC Skiing (Grönklitt) 1:00:00 [3] 7.5 km (8:00 / km)
(injured)

My right leg was aching all off last night. But I didn't want to leave Grönklitt without at least trying some skiing. Went out on the same 6 k loop, followed by a 1.5 k loop as I couldn't manage anything longer.

Adopted a strange skiing style that forced my skis to glide more, and didn't hurt my leg so much. I could manage this for at least half the course so that saved my leg a lot of agony. Interesting part of the loop was when a girl skied into the back of me (so slowly that neither of us fell) but while we were sorting ourselves out again her tutor that was following her round corrected the way I was holding my ski-poles. I was thankful. It's nice to be doing things right.

I'd enjoy returning to Grönklitt in the near future when I've regained some energy and learnewd some technique somehow! Per took my skis home to wax them up so they'll glide more. I look forward to trying that out!

However, now I need a restful week. My runnings been so poor recently, I think I need the rest.

XC Skiing (Grönklitt) 3:00:00 [3] 23.0 km (7:50 / km)
(injured)

This was 2 x 6 k loop in the morning, and 5 k loop followed by the same 6 k loop in the afternoon.
I just have no skiing technique. People glided past me with ease whether it was uphill or downhill. Felt more positive when I was actually catching people. But overtaking was a whole other matter. This meant I had to go off the tracks to get past, and that proved difficult. Took me ages to pass people.

The morning loops felt good. Same as usual, except that I took a horrible spill on a dangerously 90* corner 1.5 k into the 2nd. My knee ached after this so a lunch break was necessary by the time I finished the course.

Decided to try a forest loop so went for the 5 k one. This was tougher and slower than the previous loop as there was much debris layering the tracks. I was feeling pretty knackered after this, but though I get another 6 k loop in before calling it a day. It took me like 0.5 k to overtake 2 ladies and this used up my final bit of energy. My legs were dead and I had 4 k left of the loop to do. This was the slowest part of my skiing history. However, my 2 successes were finishing the course (how else to get back?) and keeping in front of the 2 ladies (even tough they were gaining the whole time!)

Apparently I don't glide enough, and I have too much of a "running" technique. But I'm not sure my skis will glid any more...

Running (Toward Siliansnäs) 53:00 [3] 8.8 km (6:01 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister

Early run along Lake Silian to take in our new surroundings before heading off to Grönklitt with the club.
My legs just had no go about them. Not a particularly tough route. At all. But I found it so difficult to stretch my legs out. Just struggled along the whole way.
Would take a few easy days now...but I have a weekends skiing trip to go on!

Running warm up/down 27:00 [3] 4.7 km (5:45 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister

Desperate attempt to squeeze in a decent session during moving day. After lugging loads of stuff from Insjön to our new abode in Leksand we headed back to do some orienteeeeeeeeeeering!
Jogged to start of the course with Kyle (he planned the course).

Orienteering (Insjön) 44:00 [3] *** 2.3 km (19:08 / km)

We'd never been in this area before, but decided it would be good to do a course around and up the hill. But the area was a joke. There was snow, ice and much felling. There was a possibilty to navigate 19 controls in total, but on my way to number 2 I realised it was worth making as short a loop as possible, and getting out of there! It was just taking far too long.

So I navigated a short loop of 6 controls. At a pace slower than a walk. I was happy to get back on the tracks home.

Running warm up/down 33:00 [3] *** 5.2 km (6:21 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister

Took a new route back to give myself a bit of an adventure. I was keeping an eye on the map the whole way back (I needed to for key junctions anyway) and evidently the forest around was so different than when it was mapped. Legs were feeling tight for the last 2 km.

Now to move the rest of our gear.

Circuits (Leksands OK) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Grid Fusion

Wasn't able to wake up in time to get in an early orienteering session. But think this for the best as I was knackered by circuits this evening.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.8 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister

Preparation for the beast of a day to follow. Per had invited Kyle and I to train with 2 top Swedes, we jumped at the chance.

Orienteering (Vintercupen 1 rerun) 1:03:32 [5] *** 6.4 km (9:56 / km)
spiked:10/10c shoes: VJ Twister

Reran the course from last Thursday. Cut roughly 20 min off the time due to the light, better runability due to the rapidly melting snow and learned knowledge from the last run.

Had a slightly different gaffle this time and took a few alternative routes to keep me on my toes. Had hoped I'd be abit faster, but generally happy with the run.

Running warm up/down 7:00 [2] 1.0 km (7:00 / km)

After lunch (yum yum) we played "Pairs" with photos of orienteering sites. Wille & I won. Oh yeah. We then used the pictures to attempt to complete a Photo-O challenge. Don't know how successful we were as the competition isn't finished until February.

We then changed and jogged to the start site to start an orienteering technique course.

Orienteering (Linear technique) 1:00:00 [2] ****

Using a map with all tracks and green vegetation removed we were to keep to a line marked on the map which wiggled every which way but loose.

I was awful at this. So I had to take it really slowly, and only do about half the course. The course was a whopper though, so it would have taken me over 2 hours!

I must try this again sometime. Tough tough tough.

Running warm up/down (Leksands OK) 14:30 [2] 2.2 km (6:35 / km)
shoes: Saucony Grid Fusion

Later joined the club for "Hot Tuesday" intervals. We jogged to the river like on 9th Dec.

Running intervals (Leksands OK) 37:00 [5]
shoes: Saucony Grid Fusion

Intervals of 321 min/ 1 min rest x 3.
Had thought we were doing 4, but instead we then did intervals up nearby steps.
321 steps/ jog down x 2.

I felt surprisingly good in the running. I felt that the training over Christmas had really paid off even though I was tired from earlier. However, the steps were killer. I felt the lactate then! Though the 3 steps one was a bit pointless as I was too small to make it worthwhile.

Running warm up/down (Leksands OK) 16:00 [2] 2.6 km (6:09 / km)
shoes: Saucony Grid Fusion

Enjoyable jog back to food and cleanliness!
