XC Skiing (Grönklitt) 3:00:00 [3] 23.0 km (7:50 / km)
(injured)
This was 2 x 6 k loop in the morning, and 5 k loop followed by the same 6 k loop in the afternoon.
I just have no skiing technique. People glided past me with ease whether it was uphill or downhill. Felt more positive when I was actually catching people. But overtaking was a whole other matter. This meant I had to go off the tracks to get past, and that proved difficult. Took me ages to pass people.
The morning loops felt good. Same as usual, except that I took a horrible spill on a dangerously 90* corner 1.5 k into the 2nd. My knee ached after this so a lunch break was necessary by the time I finished the course.
Decided to try a forest loop so went for the 5 k one. This was tougher and slower than the previous loop as there was much debris layering the tracks. I was feeling pretty knackered after this, but though I get another 6 k loop in before calling it a day. It took me like 0.5 k to overtake 2 ladies and this used up my final bit of energy. My legs were dead and I had 4 k left of the loop to do. This was the slowest part of my skiing history. However, my 2 successes were finishing the course (how else to get back?) and keeping in front of the 2 ladies (even tough they were gaining the whole time!)
Apparently I don't glide enough, and I have too much of a "running" technique. But I'm not sure my skis will glid any more...
