Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Running on campground roads, including a few uphills. At first hard to get heartbeat above 125. Felt good at start.

Orienteering race 1:23:08 [4]

Still raining at 9 AM when team trialers went out. Zan and I went back to coffee shop - and 1/2 hour later - the SUN! What a beautiful day to orienteer.

Much steadier run. Very challenging course! Leaving start, looked at map, "Wow, 1 & 2 are really hard! BE CAREFUL!"
#1: Woods to trails then 'hopped' 3 rock piles - worked well!
#2: Cautious but used rides very well.

Lots of people lost big times on these 2 legs. Except for #6, rest of legs were well-planned and executed - very good map contact. Very consistent.

#6. Leaving #5 was very ugly - I left reentrant push me down and away from best route choice (redline to trail bend). I got down to lower trail (still a good route), running hard til U-turn which never came. Oops, I'm on the road paralleling the triail but lower (no wonder it looked like a road; no wonder it had two extra 'unmpped' bends). Okay, I'm not now sure where I am leaving road, but will climb uphill - attack from top if needed. Walking south on good but unmapped ride - that's weird. Kept going - 2nd half WAS mapped - it's 'my' ride - left to control. Lost 3-4 minutes.

3rd on M55 - Joel Thomson and I flip-flopped on the 2 days. He lost time early, got within 3 minutes of me after #6; but I had enough pace to hold him off.

Zan ran very strong both days - including Green on Sunday. She beat me by 19 minutes, but I won 1 leg! and close on two others. I told Zan that we might not run the same course again until wea e both on Brown:).
