Note

So lungs fine from Sat to to Friday - then developed a cough post run again which was present all of Sat, tight chest/ a bit short of breath dancing Sat night which isn't a good sign. First 30-40minutes of running chest bad today but eased off a bit after that. Post run tight chest again.

Side effect of breathing less is being very tired. It sort of feels constantly like I have the remnants of a chest infection when chest is bad. But I don't and I can't quite spot the pattern or what is causing it.

Really annoying as once my lungs behave my muscles can operate and they are pretty good atm! Shame they require oxygen to work. Slow trog felt like too much effort for first 30-40mins but on the way up prison band/on the tops had much more in the tank.

Going to rest mostly this week and plan to get to Coniston with enough time for a 30-40min run w/u along flattish trails before the race next weekend, Might have to be my new tactic...
1 PM

Running 1:56:40 [2] 7.83 mi (14:54 / mi) +958m 10:48 / mi

Coniston Recce with team hangover (Wil, Rhys and Todd). Looked like we wouldn't see much on top but cleared on the Old man.

Took an entirely new line to the top of weatherlam which seemed good. Also a good reminder that having something left in the tank at the top of prison band is a good idea.

Good line off the old man - now just need to let go and run a bit faster down it.

Turned ankle towards the bottom, nothing too bad but a bit of ice/stretching to sort it for net weekend....

Running 49:13 [3] 6.2 mi (7:56 / mi) +214m 7:10 / mi

Quick scar run - making the most of my lungs feeling good, it's amazing what a transformation the last week has been! Really nice to be out running and it not feel below par :-)

Need to watch the number of fast runs in a week or I might start having other issues though...Legs certainly sore which is another nice sensation, it has been a while since I pushed them hard enough to be sore :-)

(rest day)

Hip flexors sore after yesterday - weird that this appears to be the only bit of my legs that are feeling it....

Running 1:06:00 [4] 5.2 mi (12:42 / mi) +600m 9:21 / mi

Billys Upside Down Hill Reps x 10
Aim of the session was 'easy' up the steep bit of hill, then pick it up over the top and hammer it back down.

I've been moaning I can't descend properly anymore so a good session to start sorting this out. At the end, Billy commented how I seemed to be getting faster down the hill with every one and I can now feel muscles in my ankle that I clearly haven't used for 10months. So I'm right, I had lost the ability to descend, now I just need to practice some more....

Reps about 700m with 55m climb

Was going to try and fit in a win hill or even win/lose/win on the way home but spent too long in Sheffield - with good cause, Amy has finished her thesis!

Good catch up run with Holly in the sun around Kinder. Legs feeling surprisingly fresh, in fact better than they did before the start of Anni Waltz. Shooting Cabin, Sandy Heys, Edge Path to low end but then the trog route to South Head, Mount Famine and back.
