Orienteering 46:45 [4] 6.66 km (7:01 / km)

Middle race on some more cool forest, a rocky and hilly and a pocket of intricate contours. I had nothing left to give. I caught Millinger a minute and number 2 but then struggled to keep up and lost 3 min at number 8 in an overmapped area. Should have been more confident. After that i was clean but shafted. It was good to go the the spa and get the smell of the sulphur dioxide pools as recovery.

Easy Run 15:00 [2] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)

Orienteering 1:40:46 [5] 17.6 km (5:44 / km)

Again not on top form physically but i think i orienteered ok, i was a bit scrappy i the circle as your attackpoint is often a long way from the controls so your lines have to be spot on. Hit the wall with 4 controls to go as i didn't take a gel, just didnt' think about it. Another cool bit of forest anyway. Thierry started 4 min behind me and only caught me at the second last shame as i would have liked him to have tried and i could have admired the orienteering greatness. Daniel Hubmann is sick.

Easy Run 15:00 [3] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)

Orienteering 1:06:33 [4] 11.37 km (5:51 / km)

Long qualifier for hungarian champs. Legs were heavy on jog to start but willing to give it a good go. Spiked most of the controls just didn't have the required 4th and 5th gear today. Lost 3 min as i lost concentration coming into the arena which was very frustrating. Really fun orieneteering in green karst terrain.

Orienteering 34:23 [4] 4.16 km (8:16 / km)

A cool training that Aron probably dreamed up in his 1hr of sleep a night. Starting with another runner (with start procedure) you ran gaffled courses in middle distance style. I was with a Norweigan some guy called Audun Weltzein, he looked to be really psyched for it. He blasted of to number one and i just cruised in behind him. I had an easier gaffle so got away and didn't see him untill number 6 where the map wasn't great. Then i made a big error at 8 so he was back before me.

My GPS was low on battery so i just used the straight line distance.

Orienteering 27:38 [4] 3.92 km (7:03 / km)

The second loop, no more mister nice guy. He once again blasted out of the start but i wasn't having any of it and ran away from at number two opening up a nice gap and catching Mats Haldin who was also tanking it round. Easy, easy, who are ya? ;-)

Easy Run 30:00 [2] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)

Run back to the start from the downhill finishes and warm up.

Note

Went for a walk around the sprint area (same as Euromeeting) with Rach.

Orienteering 26:30 [3] 4.42 km (6:00 / km)

First training on the same area as Euromeeting Classic. Didn't really feel as though i knew the area as courses were completely different. The first course visited the "special features".

Orienteering 13:29 [3] 2.74 km (4:55 / km)

Contour only exercise with gg. Was taking good lines and good to run with someone to get you round the simple terrain.

Orienteering 49:51 [3] 8.9 km (5:36 / km)

Long legs exercise with oli and welsh boy. Taking different routes and then meeting up at controls. We didn't do all of the exercise as that would have been silly. Interesting as you could run a long way from the line to avoid climb and not lose time. Also never any huge differences.

Note

Hungarians are legends. Full sized controls and SI for all training. I love Aron.

Easy Run 20:00 [2] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)

Warm up and down through the day.
