Old School Loop at recovery pace. Nursing a bruise on my heel so went with shoes.

Would have liked to do the Noah ride, but I'm pretty sure it's cycling that keeps jacking up my knee. So, the long day-after workout required a trail that 1) was long enough, 2) was above water, and 3) wasn't overrun with mosquitos. Would have liked to add 4) not strewn with sharp rocks on account of the heel but 1-3 had already knocked my options down to Lost Valley and Greenrock, so I went with LV and just paid attention to where I planted my left foot. Legs were fine which, even with the easy pace, is further indication I'm not running these short races right.

Hillsboro 5. Decent run; can't ever complain about 1st overall (though some of the biathlon guys did finish the run section ahead of me). Splits were fairly even given the undulations of the course though I think I ran mile four a bit soft. Heat wasn't an issue. I don't think fitness is holding me back in these short events as much as unfamiliarity: I've just forgotten how hard you have to go.

So the original workout on Daniels' plan was 1E 2x2T 8E 1T 1E. Seemed like I had a bit of gas left in the legs so I jogged easy for about 6 miles and then knocked out onerous at Tempo. Pretty well done after that but was happy to get the extra miles in.

Dropped Yaya off at Castlewood for MTB Camp (as I have each day this week, which is why I haven't been riding or running to work). Since RGA is closed today, I stuck around and rode a but myself. Way out of practice on singletrack and the heavy erosion from all the recent rain didn't improve matters. Still a fun easy ride and no serious incidents.

Easy jog round the hood. Need to get on the Chris Rock diet (Quit Eatin' So Damn Much) and get the G back under 170.

8x300@59 300R

So, after last week's track session messed up my M-pace run the next day, I tried reversing it and putting the reps right after tempo. Seemed OK, especially since I was cutting this down from 12 reps on account of the race Saturday. Lesson learned a bit late as this pretty much wraps up the speedwork for this cycle; switching the focus to intervals after next week.

4x Bookbinder Loop@5:00

Ran the uphill portion just a bit too fast which resulted in splits ranging from 4:55-4:58. Had to switch to 3-step breathing on the last one, so it was more like 5-mile effort than T. Just as well, it will serve as a dial-in for Saturday.
