Paddling race (Canoe) 1:47:00 [3] **
spiked:8/8c

Goomna adventure race with Doug Nishimura and Amy Strahan. I was in the back and since my ribs still only let me paddle on one side we didn't go too fast. Got to the transition in the main pack. David, Jeff and Carrie were waaaaay out front.

Hammered the bike leg and moved up to second. David's team was just leaving the transition as we got in.

The heat (about 95 at the start of the run, nearly 100 by the end) caught up to Doug who started cramping badly. We alternated walking and jogging. Had trouble on one control because I wasn't reading clues. David's team got back to 10 minutes ahead.

Short bike back to the finish. Second overall. Fun race. Death match now 6-3 David. Full report.

Mountain bike on the road. Loosening up and making sure things are OK for tomorrow.

Running (Road) 45:00 [2]

Easy lunchtime run with Jeff. Between the ribs and 90 degrees, it didn't feel very easy.

Cycling (Road) 1:31:00 [3]

It was still hot after work, so much so that I almost blew off the evening ride. Glad I didn't because once I got going I felt good. Hammered the Tour of Flanders loop mostly in the 15 and 14. Finished with a nice effort on the Marine Ave climb from CC Lake. The brick section in St. Charles hurt my ribs - I may have to go with the full suspension bike this weekend, even though most of the race will be on pavement.

Running (Road) 1:18:00 [2]

Started at an absurdly slow jog, but after a while found that I could run at a modest (~9:00/mi) clip without too much pain. Had to walk a bit when a rabbit darted out in front of me and I twisted not to step on it. Damn, that hurt. I think the rib will be sufficiently healed to do Goomna - I'm happy about that.
