running 20:00 [2]

Jogging to warm up, including taking a minute or two to look at the little bit of map we got in our packets.

M21 at Batona. Fun stuff, but I got really tired after about 30 minutes. Most of the run went well - decent concentration and moving ok.

The longer sprint course. I ran at a little bit below an honest effort. A little sloppy, but not too bad. I started a minute or two behind Anna. She boomed early and I passed her without seeing her.

I decided to run the shorter sprint race, too. I should have warmed up, but was a bit too lazy. That was dumb. I planned to start easy and keep an easy, steady pace. At the 2nd control I looked up and saw 3. As I headed toward 3, I thought, "I bet Anna ran fast on this stretch." That got me to speed up and I picked up the pace for most of the rest of the course (it helped to spot a couple of Walkers in the woods ahead of me).

Picking up the pace meant that I beat Anna. I was 2-0 against Anna for the day. So, I let her know about it (which is pretty sad, if you think about it). I'm probably a marked man, now.
