Road run 30:00 [2]

From home to pick up Marcus, then to circuits and to drills before running back home...hunter house road hurt today even at a slow jog!

Warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Circuits warm up/down.

Circuits 45:00 [4]

ShUOC circuits, first time in a while but not as bad as i thought it was going to be...possibly should have pushed myself harder but felt i was working the right muscles.

Running Drills 50:00 [2]

Drills with some ShUOC boys led by Danger, in the park due to an increase in EICC fees. Still find drills weird...am working some muscles but don't understand the full concept behind various drills and so wonder if i'm doing them right. Hopefully catch the start of Kelly's classes next year and get to grips with the idea!

Warm up/down 23:00 [2]
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Was a 3km bus trip to the start and rather than wait in the cold took the sensible option of a run with Mr Pinker and Mr Hull.

Orienteering race (Marsden Moor) 1:24:35 [5] *** 9.86 km (8:35 / km) +245m 7:38 / km
spiked:20/24c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Really enjoyed today, tired legs but good to have two days of tough O. Was going really well at the start before a small mistake, although finding the terrain hardwork. Went to punch at 12...realised I was SI cardless :o( Managed to back track to a rather large bog around 11 where i remember falling in...about 8 minutes of bog snorkling later i somehow managed to find it, couldn't believe it! Went round the rest of the course but was a bit out of the zone by this stage...even stopped to help/hinder a wee boy. Parts of the area were nice, would have been nice to not have the SI card drama as i was going well, but hey ho...

Orienteering race (Eyam Moor) 1:05:45 [5] **** 7.1 km (9:16 / km) +235m 7:57 / km

Cold day in the Peaks, and very physical too. Dreadful start and just didn't navigate well...i'm sure in part it was due to the physicality of the terrain thus not being able to concentrate. Way off with bearings and was one of those days where you're glad you did it but even more glad it's done!

Trail run 1:02:00 [3] 12.09 km (5:08 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoops

Lady Canning across the Moore to Burbage Bridge, along Stanage and up to the pole before dropping down to Redmires reservoirs and along finishing up to Burbage Mines and Lady Canning. Lovely day out, bright sunshine but still cold...ground like concrete...

Trail run (Terrain run) 2:20:00 [4] 18.32 km (7:39 / km) +500m 6:43 / km
shoes: Adidas Swoops

Well, that's the hard way to get back training! Terrain run over Kinder direction with Marcus, Danger, Shminty and Tom B. Lovely day out but I, not suprisingly, struggled to keep pace. Felt very weak across the heather and bogs, ended up cutting the run a bit short when a hill finally killed my calves. Would loved to have tested my blood glucose at the end, not felt so empty in a long time...followed by a nightshift, long long night...but on the plus side wasn't stiff the next day! Hard day out, but well worth the pain.

Orienteering race (SELOC Watergrove Event) 1:08:32 [5] *** 9.2 km (7:27 / km) +400m 6:07 / km
spiked:17/22c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

A very wet day out but enjoyable all the same, didn't even think to pack a waterproof...maybe could have done with it! Pretty happy with my run, legs were tired (as expected!) but nav was pretty good apart from a few tired mistakes late on. Nice in the mist on top, reckon it would have been a lot easier with good visibility ahead. Hoping the way my legs are feeling now will motivate me to get out and do some training...we'll see...!

Orienteering race (Bowden Housteads) 35:29 [5] *** 6.0 km (5:55 / km) +120m 5:23 / km
spiked:20/26c shoes: Adidas Swoops

After a December where i think i ran twice i was pretty happy to orienteer at under 6 min k's. Starting shift work on placement has not been very conducive to training...but if i'm honest neither has the cold dark evenings! Hopefully more time in January and feeling more motivated. Orienteered pretty well, i reckon 2-2.30 minutes of mistakes. The area was littered with orienteers though and it felt like a cross country race at times. Great fun though and a nice way to start the year!
