HPM training on the northern part of the route. Horrible area really, not looking forward to running that part in the event. Was nice in some parts but more due to the snow i think. Was glad i threw a compass in as visibility was pretty low and there wasn't much to go on...wasn't so glad when i fell and broke it on a rock. Really could have ended up a bit lost, managed to head North though untill i hit the main Sheffield/Manchester road and ran back to the car. Horrible run along the road in dark/fog with traffic...glad to finish.

More HPM training, felt shattered this morning but was suprised how good i felt when got out. Ran from Cuthroat Bridge following the race route up onto Derwent Moors, along to White Tor, Dovestone Tor and Back Tor. Lost Lad then down into Sheepfold Clough (horrible climb out the other side that i'm not looking forward too!) Along Howden Edge to Margery Hill and Cut Gate. Then dropped down to the Edge of Howden and ran back along Howden, Derwent and Ladybower. Back up the horrible A57 to the car. Shame didn't have more time to find a nicer way back, but light was going and i was starting to tire. Felt ok though, ran at a steady HPM pace.

Having been asked to run the HPM in just less than three weeks i thought i'd better get some long runs under my belt!! Headed out from Edale on the race route at a fairly gentle 'HPM' pace hoping to compare splits from previous years results. Was pretty much bang on where i wanted to be. Ran up to Hollins Cross then along the ridge to Lose Hill before dropping down the valley and up the other side to Win Hill. Would have been nice to get some more of the route in but the weather was pretty grim and more importantly my car was in Edale. So ran the length of Lady Bower before heading up to Crookstone Barn, up Crookstone hill to Crookstone Knoll. Along to Madwoman's Stones(!) and Ringing Roger before dropping back down into the valley to Edale. Nice pint of well deserved ale in the Olde Nags Head by a lovely open fire...nice to be out of the wind and rain. However was equally nice to be out there running and not feeling too bad considering the lack of it over the past two weeks...
