Turkey-O. Fun course by Rick. 2 maps - shirley quad at 1:15k and trout lodge at 1:10k. 29 controls on Shirley. 7 on Trout Lodge map. Course was not sweep-able (I figure sweep route at 24ish k), nice distribution of controls and point values.

I made a stupid mental error at the start and wasn't able to execute the final part of my route plan because I lost too much time with the mistake. Was running with Mark G, road run, chatting when I should have been reading the map more carefully. Otherwise, decent nav. Maybe 10 minutes total of nav errors. Was happy with my run 3+ months back into training.

Last 45 minutes was a 0-point run across the map to make it back in the 3 hour time limit, with two major hills to climb. Felt cramps coming on in the last 30 minutes but miraculously able to avoid full-scale lock up on the final hill. Within about 300 meters of the finish I was pretty certain i was going to be a few seconds (10?) late and i was really close to a 10 pointer - 17 sec's to the control, 4 to punch, 12 secs back to where i was. Offset the 10 point penalty for being late. Official time was 3:00:50. 370 pts - 10 pts late penalty = 360. Not a particularly good showing but a fun day in the woods with perfect weather.

Bman had a stellar 3 hour run. 340 pts. Cleared his planned route plus a couple of optional high point controls, nabbing several 40 pointers.

run and ride at castlewood with DC. garmin tracked it all as one activiity. Rode for about 1:50, ran for an hour. Good workout.
