Cockies Sunday run from Hackett with Ecmo, Graham and Sebba(!!!). No time for a warm up today. It was hovering around 1 degree with a light damp fog to add to the atmosphere. I wasn't expecting much after Friday's horrible run, but as we headed off towards Majura I was feeling good. A little bit of surge up the first hill convinced me that all was now OK. The others went to the top via the TT track, but I opted for the main walking track with no short cuts and not much walking up the hill either. We headed back down the main trail but as soon as I hit the first steep downhill my right quad started being sore and then quickly became painful. I tried to manage it down the zig zag tracks and the GMFT but had to stop and massage it at the water tanks. I ran down the gravel road with Graham towards the cars but it wasn't getting better so I decided to call it quits. Graham and Ecmo cut it short. Some more deeper massage produced something akin to 'crepitus' which confirmed my suspicion that it was inflamed. I was going to wait for Seb who was heading for Mt Ainslie but it was too cold to do nothing so I walked/jogged on the flat for another 15 mins.
Devil arrived from his 30 min run, then Seb. Off to Sfoglia for breakfast where it was bacon & egg rolls and coffee all round. Nice inside in the warmth. Had a second coffee while waiting for Beth and friend to turn up.
