Orienteering 1:35:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia 3

Test running of courses for Canberra NOL with ALJ, Mace, Fat Rat and Julian. I saw a lot of Al as we were making similar big route choices, just different micro ones. Great temperature to be running and the grass seeds have improved over the last couple of weeks.

Breakfast at Deli Marco and met up with some of the others who had done the Sunday long run.

Run from home to gym via Lake G and the town centre.

Gym - cardio 57:00 [4]

Spin class with MaryMac. The class was taken by Svetlana who mistakes sweating for working hard - so when a number of people said that air con wasn't turned on she just said the fans were on and it wasn't meant to be easy - moron (in the psychology sense). One of the older women went and got the cooling turned on. Worked a lot more continuously rather than the intervals of RPM.

Orienteering race 33:19 [4] 4.5 km (7:24 / km) +160m 6:17 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia 3

Summer Series event at Mt Rogers. The grass was long, and the rocks are small and hidden in the grass, so running cross country was hard and scary, so I felt like I was tippy toeing at times. A small hesitation heading towards 1, and going in the backdoor into 7 because I couldn't see an easy way through were the main errors ie. not much to speak of. I didn't feel too flash running though, especially when Miss Jones blew past me between 7 and 8. Another Gramps scalp continues my run of small but satisfying victories. Still not within cooee of the fast young ones. A very good course for the area, and a good physical challenge. Plus the weather was ideal for running.

Running 42:30 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2150 #2

This is a compilation of my run from home to orienteering, and a very quick warm up before starting the race, and then a fun warm down with George and Bryce up to the trig on top of Mt Rogers hearing about their summer holidays and plans for the coming year, and finally my run back to home.

Street-O in Turner. I did the A course which meant getting 18 of 20 controls. At the start I just ran to the nearest control without a plan, but on the way had a look at the map and made a rough plan. I had a few small oops along the way - got to 11 and couldn't see the control, but then realised there were some control descriptions on the map so then went to the garbage bin. We were warned that 8 was on the other side of the playground so I ran to the bright shiny new seat on the other side of the playground, but no control, so hunted around for a minute and then came back and saw the dirty, dull old seat tucked back in the bushes that had the control on it. Last error was on 6 which was my last control. Missed seeing th laneway so ended up doing a complete circuit of the little crescent. A good solid run. Time is a guess as is the distance.
