Running long 1:45:00 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2140

Solo Sunday long run from Hackett. Acejase had encouraged everyone to go to Deeks Drive at 9am for an alternative special run. The run is being organised by Deek and friends to remember the area before it is bulldozed to build Jo and Shep's house. The run is only 2km, but they were going to do a wee bit more after. I decided that I wanted to get my run in a bit earlier and I still find running out there without the trees a bit depressing.

I headed north to the very end of Mt Majura West and thought about heading across to Goorooyaroo, but the horse trail just stops. So I retrurned along the top side of the MMW area, then past the triple tri turn off and took the next track up Majura. Once past the stone steps the track became a bit of a quagmire until I hit the main fire trail. From there to the top of Majura was quite solid. Back down to the saddle near the pines then over Hackett Hill and back around the lower fire trail to the car.

It only rained very heavily once, when I was starting up Majura, and for the rest of the time it was just sprinkling/misting rain. My shirt got wet and heavy, and the cool weather meant my nipples got a bit raw towards the end. Finally I decided to just run without a shirt and it was strange at first, but it was almost warmer than having the wet shirt on. Luckily no-one was around.

Breakfast at home - MaryMac went and bought some croissants from Evatt bakery while I had a nice hot shower. Sat down and watched the Wallabies demolish France. A fun way to end the morning.

Bike - MTB 2:04:00 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2140

Early morning bike ride with Steve B. I rode from home down to Lake G to meet Steve, then we rode out to the end of Forde, then back to Lake G past JKP to Embers Cafe for a coffee and raisin toast (coffee was good; toast was so-so). Then rode home via McKellar and Evatt.

Run to work.
6 PM

Gym - strength and conditioning 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2150 #2

Body Pump without MaryMac felt strange, plus I was somewhere 'diiferent' so that felt strange too. Took Mary's advice on my posture for deadlifts and felt like I was working better.

Running 35:00 [3]

A slowish run home from the gym, but took some different streets through Evatt which was a nice change. TGIF.

Orienteering race 38:34 [4] 5.7 km (6:46 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia 3

Summer Series event at Mt Majura West. The grass near the start was waist high, but it wasn't too bad on most of the course. Good course set by Scotty. I made a 15 second mistake on 14 by running past the top of the water course and not seeing it in the grass, but pulled up about 30m past it and came back. Andrew Barnett caught me on the way to 1, but I kept catching him near the controls, but lost sight of him after 6. I also had a bit of a tussle with Ari and Patrick in the middle controls but then got away. The rest of the course I felt like I was running by myself. The weather was quite warm and I was feeling hot by the end.

In the end I was about 4 minutes behind Miss Jones who was lamenting how far behind Jules she was. I somehow managed to stay ahead of acejase, devil and gramps so that is pleasing.

Orienteering warm up/down 50:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia 3

Time includes a warm up, and a good warm down with Miss Jones, and picking up some controls with help from MaryMac.

Ride from work to cross country at Black Mt Peninsula
6 PM

Running race 22:05 [4] 5.0 km (4:25 / km)
shoes: asics GT-2150 #2

ACT cross country at Black Mt Peninsula. Three laps of a 1.7km loop that was mainly on lumpy grass, with a few little rises and a bit of a dirt path for one part. My legs felt quite slow and heavy but I tried to relax and keep a good steady pace. Got to see the leaders and the stragglers a bit as the course doubled back on itself occasionally. My splits were: 6:58, 7:33, 7:33. My time was 3:18 faster than 2 years ago.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2150 #2

A quick warm up before the start after jumping off the bike .... triathlon transitions must be horrible.

Bike - MTB 49:00 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2150 #2

Ride home after the run. Had acejase for company for the first half up to Aranda, then went via the eastern side of Lake G. So many people out walking, bbq'ing, and having a nice time. I was glad to get home in the end.
