Running 26:00 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2150

Run to work. I think this is about 1 minute quicker than previous best - definitely need to find (make up) a longer route.

Running 31:30 [3]

Run to work. The radio said it was -4 degrees so I ummed and arred a bit, but then thought it looked nice outside so decided to run - by the time I got going the sun was up which made things seem warmer. Went via Melba, then along some watercourses through Florey, dodging the frozen water.

Orienteering race 57:26 [4] 6.2 km (9:16 / km) +235m 7:47 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia 3

ACT League event at Foxlow Flats. I had to get back for lunch at Harry's parents so only did the Red 3 course. It was sunny, but cold - my hands took quite a while to warm up. It was very quiet early on, and I only saw two people out in the forest.

Safe and wide to the left on #1 but. I overran #2 by about 50m so lost a little bit of time. On the way to 3 I came across a man on a horse going quietly through the thicker bush - he looked like he was just floating along at first glance. Missed #7 by 20m - the darker green just didn't look like what I was expecting, but relocated quickly. The rest of the course was fine. I just tried to run steadily and really enjoyed the run.

Note

My last rest day was Christmas day so I have managed to clock up 6 months without missing a day of doing some form of training, and no injuries or illness. Average is 1.5hrs per day but with a lot of cross training as running/orienteering make up only 50% of the time

9 AM

Running long 1:21:00 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2150

Run from home to Saturday orienteering which was starting behind the War Memorial. I was orgainising the final trial for the schools team so wasn't planning on orienteering, but wanted to go for a run this morning.

Through Evatt, McKellar, Lake G, then bumped into Mace as I was crossing the UC playing fields. Mace was trying to find somewhere to run intervals that wasn't too boggy. We ran together for a few minutes then I continued on through Fern Hill Park, and the AIS (where I managed to get wet feet while cutting across some marshy areas), then over O'Connor Ridge, and finally along Macarthur and Limestone Aves (which is always a lot further than I think it is going to be).

Gym - strength and conditioning 1:00:00 [3]

Body Pump class with MaryMac. No Jamie to lead us this week, but the alternate instructor was excellent - MaryMac thought she was the 'best ever'.

Running 31:40 [3]

Run to work. A new route via Miles Franklin PS, McKellar, through the new development near John Knight Park, then past the Library to the ABShouse. I thought it would be longer but the time isn't much different to the normal.

First time weight under 75kg in a very long time

Run with Cockies with lights from Lucy's place in Braddon with ALJ, Miss Jones, Mace, Devil, Sanders and Lucy. Through Ainslie then along the bottom of Mt Ainslie to the summit road, then back the same way.

We had some delicious home made pizza after the run ... very yummy.
