Running 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2120

Cockies run from Hackett. Ran the flat trail around the base of Ainslie, and I felt really good. At some point a decision was made not to go up Ainslie but to continue around the back into Campbell Park. I thought I had better run/walk to the top in case Heather was waiting there. She had gone directly. I turned to tell Robert and he wasn't there! I waited for a few minutes with Geoff and Jenny and then Rob arrived. He had bent over to tie his shoe lace and strained his hamstring about were it inserts at the top of his leg. So he turned around and headed back. Up to the top of Ainslie - but no Heather (she had to get back to go to work so hadn't waited at the top). Ran down to the saddle where we met the main group again. I peeled off and headed back around the bottom of Hackett Hill. Rob was waiting at the cars so I took him home so he could ice his leg/buttock. Seems to be getting better.

Time includes my warm up before the run.

Running intervals 20:00 [4]
shoes: asics GT-2120

I had planned to go over to Black Mt for intervals with Heather, but the petrol gauge was bumping 'E' so we stopped at Lake Gininderra rather than risk it. Heather and I ran over the bridge and through John Knight Park to UC. We found a rough track winding up through the trees and ran the first interval up the gentle rise until the trees ended. The time was almost exactly the same as the Black Mt intervals last week, so we jogged back down to the start and did 4 more. My times were 1:19, 1:17, 1:15, 1:13 and 1:13. I felt like I was getting slower with each one, so I just focused on not shortening my stride. Seemed to work.

Running 34:38 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2120

Started from top of Black Mt and ran down northern track to intersection with circumcision track. Ran anti-clockwise till I hit the road then did a bit of out-and-back to meet Mary. Turned around and did a full lap with a good tempo, the another out-and-back to Mary again. Finished off by running back up to the top from the south, and a lap of the car park as a cool down.

Orienteering race (North Lyneham Eucalypts) 33:47 [4] 4.8 km (7:02 / km)
shoes: Asics GEL Trabuco

New map made by Shep. The navigation was simple but it is always fun to orienteer in a new area. Having said that it was simple, I still managed to run past the pathway leading up to number 1 by about 50m - I thought I was looking for a road - that will teach me, again, not to ignore the detail. After that I settled into the map, but still didn't push myself hard enough up the hills. Overshot number 14 by about 10m and had to double back. The rock feature was low, and the control flag even lower, but it is a Wednesday event and it doesn't matter. Had a few problems getting over the fence on the way to 15, but manage to roll under instead. Had fun chasing Felicity at the end, but couldn't make up the gap. At least it wasn't getting much bigger.

Robert did 31:05, so even accounting for my mistakes and a couple of short walks up the hill, I don't think I could have beaten that time today. So the score board is now 3-1 to me.
