Trail Run 1:20:00 [3]
shoes: Salomon SpikeCross

With Leanimal's MaXiRace cancelled this AM, Harps, her, and I hit the Semnoz for a rainy, muddy, cold run. This weather is so unseasonable. In fact, it hasn't been this cold at this time of year in Annecy since the late 1880s...bad luck. My whole body felt sleepy and tired during this run, unfortunately. I'm just not that great at having the juice for activity in the mid-afternoon...it's morning or bust for me.

Trail Run 1:40:00 [3] +883m
shoes: Salomon SpikeCross

Absolute slopfest on the Veyrier for a night run with Harps. We headed to the Talibar and then south for a different climb to Col des Sauts. After a bit of out-and-back bushwhacking, we got on the right trail and it was super technical and mucky. The folks doing the MaXiRace this weekend are in for an extra challenge as the mud is deep, greasy, and plentiful. Advantage Leanimal!

Road Run 35:00 [2]
shoes: XR CROSSMAX 2

Legs were veritably fried after the weekend. 6k seemed like double that...especially so given the chucking rain...again!

Road Ride 4:45:00 [3] 115.0 km (2:29 / km) +2180m 2:16 / km

Another epic with Harps today. We put together a pretty sweet route and crossed our fingers for weather that would cooperate...and it did. I was honestly worried that I wouldn't have the legs for it after the last couple of days of running and riding. Off to Thones, La Clusaz and Col des Aravis...part of which will be on the Tour this July. The climb was long and steady but I dug in and made it OK. The screamin' descent to Flumet was super fun as it was switchback after switchback, waterfalls everywhere, and cool little villages to fly through. Mandatory stop for some baked goods and then a continued descent to Ugine...the KMs just flew by at this stage. Col d'Epine was the next challenge and it felt like it was straight up. The views were sweet, the slight breeze was cooling, and I still had enough juice to not fall over on the climb. Back through Thones, along to the Col de Bluffy and back home. Legs fatigued to say the least and now it is time to manger comme un champion! http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/211516133

Trail Run 1:30:00 [3] +800m
shoes: Salomon S-LAB 5 XT SOFTGROUND

I'm 6 for 6 on the Parmelan...6 for 6 where I go there and get completely socked in and can't see for sh!t. Except this time, I treated Harps to the fun. It was raining, then pelting hail, then snowing. I promised a refuge lunch and it was closed. The Grand Monter was super sketchy and we had a few snowy ravine negotiations where if you fell, you would fall a LONG way down. We used sharp rocks as ice axes so it was all good.
