Hiked up Mt Tallac (9700') from Fallen Leaf Lake. Clear of snow for the first third, then in and out of snowfields until it started climbing up out of a NE facing
bowl and the trail disappeared into the cornice. Did a little detour around that up a steep
scree slope on the north side, which was good for a couple ankle traps, but then crossed over to the dry east side of the ridgeline for the last 1200' or so. Sweet views of
South Lake Tahoe from the top, and visits by all the
usual sort of
characters. Got a couple
eyeball shots, but none in too good focus (thats me kneeling on the right, and the summit snowfield on the left). 6 hrs rt.
