Latrigg Galoppen
Nice run out round latrigg and some of the gorge which I haven’t orienteered in before so was nice to check out. Very physical course especially the middle section and the butterfly loop on the fell and my legs weren’t really up for it clearly not been back in the lakes long enough and definitely struggled on some of the hills towards the end. Was okay navigation wise for the most part a little scrappy on a few controls and made a route choice on 3 that cost me 3mins stuck in a load of brambles and ended up getting passed by all the people starting behind me so had to work my way through the pack on the next few controls. From about 7 onwards was running pretty much on my own and just sort of grinded it out from then on and passed herbie towards the end. Also a couple of the controls seemed to be in the wrong place which was weird.

Forgot my headtorch again so was resigned to more laps of the rugby club need to remember to take it next time. Legs weren’t feeling great tbh very stiff especially my knees and my calves felt pretty tight as well. Rolled everything out afterwards so hopefully that helps.

Easy 30 round the rugby club in the snow feeling pretty good forgot a headtorch though so was a little sketchy in the dark. No issues from the knee.

Easy miles round whinlatter with dad and daisy. Nice and snowy underfoot and the legs feeling pretty good not affected to badly from yesterday. Knee was completely fine as well except some slight discomfort on the last downhill. Probably was a bit hilly and snowy for an easy run but the kept the pace very chilled.

Leading a session for some of the wcoc juniors round the rugby club. Running with Dan for most of it, paces varied quite a bit as the loop was a bit undulating but averaged around 3:17s with the snowy conditions obviously affecting the pace a bit. Didn’t feel terrible legs definitely tied up at the end went out quite hard but paces didn’t really drop off which is good. Obviously very slow atm been a long long time since I’ve done a session but certainly wasn’t awful and nice to be back doing some sort of workout again. Will try to add in a session each week from now on hopefully can get down to the track next week.

Monday miles in the snow and ice round cockermouth. Got in all the classic bits down the greenway then up to the rugby club before a loop of slate fell and back down through the woods. Legs felt pretty good throughout definitely feeling fitter on these easy runs than I have been and the knee was barely a problem just a bit of soreness mainly on the downhills.
