Night-O at Ellison Park.
Enjoyed the moon-filled evening (but the moon itself made me think there was someone coming on more than one occasion as I was climbing a hill;-)
Left everything east of the start for last.
Cleared the lower southern route - 18, 4, 25, 1, 12, 11 (to keep from needing to come down the hill later), 22, 26. Minnor bobble at 25 as I didn't see the control was on the second half of the fence, but just had to keep going to get it.
Then cleared the left / hill.
One error in reading the map. I thought 21 was above the bowl, so I went to 7 first. But then had to drop down to get it, erasing any advantage from getting them in order up the hill.
Someone was coming down from 5 when I was going up, so that was a direct line. Then 6, 8, and 19 down the hill.
Then reset and ran the center hat-hill - 24, 9, (plus roving control), 10, 20, 13 (minor bobble there), 2.
Then the swamp that is a grass field to 14.
Coming back to the S/F area, I had 7 minutes left, so was certain I could make the loop - picked up 3 and 23, and came back the trail. Looked up the re-entrant where 15 should have been, but did not see any reflection. Decided that either I was not in the right spot, or the control was very far up the hill, and that I did not have time to reach it. (did not consider that it was not where it should have been - track shows I went 30m up the right re-entrant, so that is a good thing)
Ran back in with a minute to spare.
Saw I was a second ahead of Rob H, but official times list him in front of me... Not sure what adjustment he got;-)
But a great night out, and one of my best event this year. (Lots of people seemed to have made it out;-)
