Real Orienteering race 1:07:59 [3] 5.36 km (12:41 / km) +155m 11:05 / km
shoes: Speedcross Black - 14th pair

Great area, enjoyable course. Only two errors, one because I skipped a control and had to go back when I realised I couldn't remember the previous control. That cost five minutes. The other look like an error, but was a really wide route choice to avoid a steep erosion gully to protect my calf - see below.

Started the day with a sore spot in the left calf. Ran at slow jog speed to protect it. This succeeded until four controls from the finish. Tripped and the calf went into spasm with a spectacular contraction which I could feel with my had as what seemed like a partially embedded golf ball. After a minute or so wondering if I was able to finish, it subsided and I was able to walk to the next control and sort of lope downhill after that towards the last few controls and the finish. As with the previous two weekends, this weekend leaves me with another week of cautious mid week rest.

Bendigo event at Kalimna. Leg 2 was a good route choice conundrum, which sadly everyone forgot about because the control at the end was misplaced. Raises questions about how the club supports course setters. I see three things we might consider doing.
1. Offer course setter support persons. Well, we sort of do this.
2. Give the option of someone running the course early (Saturday morning with an earlier zero time on OE and Livelox.
3. Making it clear that someone will step in to put out controls if the setter is ill. We should expect there to be more sickness about than in the past and we shouldn't allow setters to think they need to turn up to set if symptomatic.

Other than that, a tough area.

Resistance training 50:00 [3]

Might leave off return to running till the weekend. Three days in a row probably too ambitious just now.

Running 20:21 [3] 3.02 km (6:44 / km) +60m 6:08 / km
shoes: Speedcross Black - 14th pair

Broke down after 3k. Sudden acute pains in left foot. Had to wait a while before I could cautiously walk the 2 k home. Taking a while to recover from a rogaine.
