7 PM

Kayaking 2:00:00 [1] 6.78 mi (17:42 / mi)

Full moon paddle #80 with Stina. A nice fall night, bright moon, no wind, glassy lake. An uneventfull paddle until we got to the south end of the lake, and we saw what I first thought was a beaver swimming close to the boats, but it really didn't look like a swimming beaver, and it never dove to get away from us instead it went to shore and ran fast to get away from us. The sound from the foot falls made me think deer but it didn't look like a deer head when it was swimming. After looking at some online photos decided it must have been a coyote.

Mountain bike 1:35:41 [3] 10.6 mi (6.6 mph)
ahr:114 max:143 shoes: 29er

OCP with Stina. Took the 29er. First ride after taking out the 20 mm travel restrictor in the fork. Travel previously was 100mm now 120 mm. much better fork action, smoother and softer so it did not beat me up as much. It seemed to lose the "topping issue" it had before. I'm not sure about the handlebar set up now (as low as possible) seem to put too much weigh on the front end.

orienteering race 1:45:28 [4]
ahr:131 max:173

OUSA masters national at Sprauge Brook park. Not hard navigation but I messed up on #6, spent a lot of time looking in the wrong area (not far enought along the creek. It seems most of the courses had some version of tthat leg.

Mountain bike 1:03:33 [3] 7.06 mi (6.7 mph)
ahr:120 max:132 shoes: 27.5

HH with Stina and her new bike. A short ride to save some energy for the weekends masters nationals. All was fine until Stina insisted I try her new bike. I just rode it in the parking lot area but I encountered a pile of dog crap in my path. I stopped and did a track stand to avoid the crap then tipped over when I could not unclip the pedals. There was a time I liked dogs.

4 PM

Mountain bike 1:42:42 [3] 11.04 mi (6.4 mph)
ahr:115 max:143 shoes: 29er

HH with Stina. Perfect weather, 62 degrees, clear sky, low humidity. Took the 29er. It has new tires, and in rides around the house the fork topping seemed to have gone away. I also moved the bars down, (flipped the stem and took the spaces out). Bike seemed to roll easier, but accelerated more slowly compared to the 27.5. Overall the bike rode stiff and beat me up.
