orienteering race 44:23 [5] ***** 6.5 km (6:50 / km) +350m 5:23 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

ran first leg for the nuggets,
my aim was pretty simple, finish with the leading pack.
started off well and was feeling ok, running at the front grant and i nearly got away but we were messy on 8, pack reformed, led them into 9, i had the lower split with AJ but everyone else had the higher split, i got nearly to my control and AJ called up from up the hill that our control was up there, so i ran up to the control everyone else had, only to discover it wasnt ours, went back down the hill to our control, lost the about 1 minute and the pack. ran with AJ for the rest of the course as we had the same splits. we were running well and we may have recaught the pack but we were messy on 12 and i fucked 16 for us(about 2 mins). finished 2 mins down on the leaders.
great course to finish off a great week

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 4.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

orienteering race 1:40:00 [5] ***** 13.9 km (7:12 / km) +500m 6:06 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

aus classic champs.
started off pretty badly, shanked number 2 and lost about 3 mins. took it easy for the next few and settled into the course, bad route choices(straight both times) on 5 and 6 lost me about 30 secs each control. simon ran through me when i was messy on 9. ran with him until the long leg where i went straight along those gullies and he went right along the track. he put 3 mins into on that leg.. finished off the course well through the detail.. ok run reasonably happy but have to work on my route choices i always seem to go straight.. great course and a great area.. says a lot about the quality of the field and the course setting when the difference between 10th and 5th is one route choice.

Running 10:00 [3] 1.5 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

jog with patty to the start

orienteering race 14:50 [4] 3.5 km (4:14 / km)
shoes: Brooks T4 racers

aus sprint champs. not a bad run but i just cant seem to push myself properly in short sprint races. will have to do some track work over summer to get better at shorter races. went straight on the long leg (lost about 20secs) and lost about 20secs in the showgrounds apart from that no worries

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Brooks T4 racers

warm up, weather was too shit for a cool down

Cycling - Road 2:30:00 [3] 63.0 km (2:23 / km)

rode with muzza and matty from my place through kangaroo flat and kangaroo gully where mattys tyre went bang and his day ended. murray and i continued through sutton grange and over mount alexander, on which murray dropped me easily.. smashed it down through faraday to castlemaine to meet up with muzzas olds. awesome ride.... HORSE!

Note

busy all day with schools champs.. they went well and weather was awesome.. kids seemed to enjoy it..thanks to matt, muzz and patty, they worked like dogs for me over the last few days and made the schools champs run seemlessly

orienteering race 20:35 [5] 4.3 km (4:47 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

schools champs challenge.. junior girls course
matt, murray, pat S and I had to pre run the schools individual courses.. so we set ourselves a challenge.. matt had to beat the senior boys by 6 mins, muzz had to beat the senior girls by 10 mins, pat had to beat the junior boys by 6 mins and i had to beat the junior girls by 15... the two who were the furthest from the target times had to buy beers for the others.. none of us beat our target times and pat didnt even beat the junior boys (this resulted in a penalty round of beers for him... admittedly his task was the hardest and the junior boys ran some astonishing times)... matt had to buy the other round as his margin over the senior boys was next smallest.. good challenge although we badly underestimated the quality of the schools athletes.
