ahr:178 max:200 shoes: Salomon SpeedCross 5
Not too happy with this, but overall it was alright. Rough first four controls, then better after that.
On 1, made a parallel error picking the wrong spur. The spur I was on had a control on a boulder, just like my #1. Quickly corrected, but lost a minute or 2.
Drifted too low crossing the second reentrant to #2. There was a smaller reentrant that made me hesitate much more than I should have before climbing back up to the control. 3 was alright, a little hesitation in the circle but not much. For both of these controls, Mattias went high and that seemed to be a better approach. I realized I don't really consider attacking things from above while running on courses, but that's something I probably should think more about.
4 was a disaster. I thought the large spur east of 4 (past the hilltop) was the hilltop. then I was looking for 4 about 150 meters too soon. Began to bail to the road after several minutes and found 6. I have no idea why I thought the wide spur was a hilltop, dumb.
5 and 6 were good because I had already been there.
7 was not good. I was trying to count reentrants before attacking uphill to the control. Miscounted and went up too early. Was able to relocate and recover without too much trouble.
Here I realize I am not reading contours well at all. I would see a reentrant, and assume it was a large one close to where I was, when in reality there were smaller ones that were mapped that I wasnt reading.
8 & 9 were alright, but had trouble reading contours again, I think more second guessing myself.
I had to have ran right past 14 without seeing it. I was looking for the rootstock by the pit, but never saw it.
