More navigation practice padded with 20/25 min of travel to and from S/F.
Did Igor's original route backward. I seemed to be doing pretty well! Using the big featues, hadnrails going over hills and the like. Going from 6 to 5, w I intentionally did not use the trail and used a different cross country route. I was doing kind of OK until the green area NE ish of the marsh and got hung up in there and drifted north. Got back on OK to 5. Getting to 4 went perfectly, I felt like the features were really popping out. On my way to 3 I did a superman which kind of knocked the wind out of me. I think I should have paused longer, but I wanted to press on.
I wound up pulling myself too far south on 3, and was just flummoxed. Sorted it out but was just feeling shakey. Took the most obvious route to 2, and started to not see anything. Went right to it on a bearing.
Thought I had exited well to get to 1, but pulled too far west and wound up travelling the spur slowly. I should have corrected myself sooner.
Then leaving 1 I was doing well, and really thought I had in sight which way to go, then all of a sudden I was going up up up and didn't correct myself. I went 300m round trip out of my way back to the triangle. Grrrr. I totally let my guard down and wasn't watching my compass.
I have two FTP tests this week.
Lingering questions: How to decide from a time and accuracy perspective between busting through green or going around? How to decide from a time and accurancy perspective when best to use trail or go through the woods?
