Strength & Conditioning (Wildfoot) 1:30:00 [1]

Yay Wildfoot. A hairy journey there though. Crazy heavy rain turned into mega hailstones on the motorway. Within 200m ai saw 3 cars - one smashed up facing the wrong way, one smashed up facing the right way, and one way off down the embankment.

Stopped to check on the occupants of the one on my side of the carriageway - he was grand, don't know how, he said he span several times before ending up there. So lucky they all ended up off the carriageway as cars were still whisking past at 70+ and it was like ball bearings, really quite scary even walking in case another car went out of control.

And then at Wildfoot we were working out on the lawn! Till the rain came.
Good day. Feeling strong still, despite missing many sessions recently. Very pleased with handstanding.

Strength & Conditioning (Pilates ) 1:00:00 [1]

Pilates with Ali, good good. I could do with upping my own Pilates practice.

Orienteering 29:00 intensity: (59 @1) + (20:56 @2) + (7:05 @3) 2.8 km (10:22 / km) +26m 9:54 / km
ahr:139 max:154 shoes: Saucony Peregrine Trail

Avenging relay demons at Parkanaur, jogging round, choosing the right routes this time.
Ironically if I'd been a bit more balshy with the one I bailed out & round on (where I lost about 5 minutes total) I would have found the control no bother. Easy when you keep map contact. Should try that sometime.
Will upload off my watch - tried to hit split each control but at one (at least one) I hit stop instead, so I'm not sure of total time, but will be interesting to compare the remaining splits.
One of the early controls I really couldn't make the earth walls fit, so I'll revisit it sometime.
Stealth training could be A Thing.

Orienteering 35:00 [4] 4.0 km (8:45 / km)
shoes: Saucony Peregrine Trail

IOC Relays, 2nd leg (medium) H12.

More on this when on laptop but in summary, physically felt amazing, really strong running and heart was tip top. Knees brilliant.

Unfortunately any time I had to navigate beyond an Orange level control, I stuffed it up.

But hey, at least I stuffed it up quickly.

Orienteering 53:10 [3] 4.93 km (10:46 / km) +84m 9:56 / km

IOC Middle Distance, Castle Archdale.

Apparently, some people use attack points. Who knew?

I did successfully spike one control, #9, which weirdly Autofit on Routegadget has credited me with a massive banana route. That figures.

Orienteering 15:14 [4] 2.17 km (7:01 / km)
shoes: Saucony Peregrine Trail

Yayyyy orienteering :) IOC Sprint W35, Florencecourt.

Successfully muddled at the start, emerging from the hedges not knowing which way was up. That took a small number of seconds to unravel. Hesitation on the way to 2 with a dodgy control description. Slow to 6 getting up an unexpected wall. Slower route to 7 (wrong way round the building, because I came out a small bit low from the woods). Felt like I floundered a lot to 14, just no aggression to get through the terrain.

Anyway those are seconds here and there. It felt amazing to be running, albeit I had no speed whatsoever. The result was I felt really smooth but slow. Very surprised to be 1st on the course when I finished (wound up 2nd, beaten by an M14, ho hum).

Note
(rest day)

Sick as a dog after getting a headache while out for the day, and no magic tablets with me.
Thankfully didn't vomit in my new boss's swanky car - saved that till I got home. Did nearly break the car boot though. Apparently there's a button to press. Too fancy for me.
6 hours sleep, up at midnight for a few hours. Still off colour today (Thurs). Going to swim tonight. Cold water cures many ills.
