Orienteering (Kirkwood Score-O) 1:00:00 [2] 2.0 mi (30:00 / mi)
shoes: Salomon Sense Pro

With Jeff, Jacob, and Jacobs friend & family. Boy is my navigation rusty, especially when combined with a 14 yr old navigator who keeps charging off. But they had fun and want to go again, and Jeff and Jacob had fun, so it was a good night.

Jello legs and couldn't get more than a block or two without being winded. Suffice it to say I'm not recovered yet from the weekend. I've been SO tired that I haven't done anything. Hoping that doing something gives me more energy.

Biking race (Bike 4 (TA3-finish)) 3:10:00 [4] 24.0 mi (7.6 mph)
shoes: Trek SuperFly

Mostly gravel and pavement. Wasted around 30 min on CP31 (our first of the leg) after going straight to it because I'd forgotten these were "clue" rather than "punch" CPs and after not finding a flag we did some riding back and forth to check and make sure we were where we thought we were. Thankfully Mike's Hike & Bike eventually showed up and clued us in. That's the second time not having the clue sheet handy was a problem, so I'll take a lesson from that. Otherwise trouble-free nav.

Note

In many ways, this race was the exact opposite of Thunder Rolls, where after a totally smooth and calm pre-race and despite pretty stellar nav, I felt really awful for no good reason for the majority of the day and really didn't have much fun (and lousy performance).

Our No Sleep pre-race was pretty much a nightmare: completely dead Jeep battery (thankfully it turned out the issue was just the battery) in a small town several hours from home with nothing that would be open on Sunday after the race, throwing our race/sleep essentials into the RD's truck just to get to the start line, needing a ride to the bike drop, and for parts of the day an uncharacteristically shaky navigational outing. But we hung in there, stayed positive and patient, problem solved, and really had a good race despite all of the not-good things.
