Longest ride on the new bike. Saddle is fine for MTB when I'm out of the saddle plenty, not as awesome for gravel when I'm sitting.

So tired with the end of semester/Christmas craziness that I just wanted to stay home and sleep but a) the forecast for the upcoming week stinks for MTB and b) Aaron and Dave were camping at CB and I couldn't count on a bail-out text reaching them. Good thing, because we had a fantastic day.

About 50/50 on switchbacks, which is actually an improvement for me. No hill-walking until we bailed to gravel and I had to walk most of the hill after Monty's corner. Kept up pretty well on food until the gravel but fell behind and then bonked on singletrack back to the campground. Awesome day, trail was in great shape except for a bunch of trees down, so our ride was a full body workout.

Got 11/22 controls, minus the three I lost for coming in late. Route choice could have been better, but my navigation was clean until I was almost back at the finish and got mixed up with all the little trails. Ended up going for one last point and overestimating my ability to get back in time. Ran more than usual.

My AR team put together a temporary SHared Adventure Race Training course, kind of like an O meet but on your own time. I did nav while Mickey provided constructive criticism. Had time for 15 and 1-7 before it was dark. Hiked out in the dark and rain. Had considered bringing a headlamp and didn't because I wasn't going to stay til dark. Whoops.
