High Park
Back to cold temperatures, takes extra strength to get out of the warm car.
Hard going in the first half and wanted to bail but found some motivation and kept going. It felt much better once the sun came out :)
It felt like running on the trails, dodging potholes, icy patches, uneven sidewalk :)

Trecherous, icy conditions on the sidewalks....lots of walking but a gorgeous day nonetheless. So great to feel the sun on my face:)

Slow going today, for some reason - maybe too much on my mind?
I could almost smell spring in the air....lots of chirping birds around:)

X-Country skiing 2:00:00 [1]

Again, headed to Arrowhead early to avoid the lines. I think we were the first ones on the our trail! We did a 3km section and did 2 loops - lots of uphills and downhills, which the kids loved.
Very cold but sunny and wind-less:)

Arm workout (Tubbing) 1:00:00 [2]

Arrowhead Provincial Park
We got there early as we knew it would get busy with such an awesome weather.....tubbing was a lot of fun and I am only logging it as I had to climb that hill many times while pulling Amik's and mine tube - quite a workout!

Skating 1:00:00 [1]

Arrowhead as a outdoor rink that twists and turns around the campground, one loop is 1km. Amik and I did 5 loops. There is even an uphill and downhill section, and a firepit along the way. Very cool set-up. It was quite cold so we cut it short. Lots of families around.
We were going to do x-country after that, but the line-up to purchase passes and rent equipment was unbelievably long! As we were heading out on the park road, the cars were lined up for about a km before the gate....

Downhill skiing 5:30:00 [2]

Amik and and I headed up North for some great Family weekend fun.
First stop - Horseshoe Valley. It was our lucky day as some lady came up to us as we were getting ready in the chalet and offered us free lift tickets! Apparently, she won these at some charity event and wasn't going to use them. Yay, score! :)
My sister and her family joined us and we had an amazing day on the slopes.
It was the first time Amik skied for the whole day, as he usually gets tired half-way through.
Then we drove to Hunstville, left our stuff in the hotel and headed to Algonquin, for some wolf-howling at Mew Lake. Well, we were a bit late for that but we still had an awesome time walking around the deserted campground at night. We even ventured onto the lake and were amazed at how beautiful and starry the sky was. Then kids skated for a bit while we warmed up by the fire (it was set up by the park wardens) with free hot chocolates.

High Park
'Frikken cold' as bIT noted;)
I didn't feel like running any longer, my eyelashes were covered with icicles, my hands would not warm up and my core was cold. Still, a gorgeous wintery day :)

Running (Treadmill) 33:00 [3]
shoes: NB Minumus RevLite

I was toying with the idea of running home from work (which is about 14km) but those sidewalks still don't look so clean and I would be running in the dark, so I opted for the gym instead. No one was there, I watched some Olympics, therefore the time on treadmill was almost pleasant :)

Snowshoeing 45:00 [2]

Stopped by in Palgrave on our way back from Eco's place. Unfortunately, we couldn't drive in into the Wildlife Nature Reserve's parking lot....too much snow. So, we parked across the street and tried our snowshoes there - the snow was so deep, that they weren't of much help!

X-Country skiing (Classic) 2:30:00 [1]

Horseshoe Valley
Amik and I took advantage of the free ski pass and headed out to trails. Hardly anyone there, the forest was so quiet. Amik needed a 'push' few times along the way, he only sped up once he saw the chalet. We stopped for food, met Hermes and Getawaystix, who were just heading out for their turn. We returned our equipment, stayed in for a bit to warm up and headed out again to check out local hiking/snowshoeing trails.

Hiking 1:00:00 [1]

Found a nice trail, taking us behind the toboggan hill, into the woods, where we had fun making cartoonish-looking 'angels' in the snow.
Then it was time for the presentation by Ryan and Getawaystix, which was awesome and very inspiring.
Amik even managed to win a door prize - a pair of very stylish and cool earphones

Snowshoeing (Some hills) 1:00:00 [1]

What a gorgeous weather! I dropped Amik off at school and headed to High Park. Not many people around, so quiet in the woods. I stayed off trails, going up and down ravines, bushwacking. I was using my new Hillsound gaters - so far so good.
Couldn't stay too long as I am back to job hunting and want to use my time off wisely:)

Running (Road) 50:00 [2]
shoes: TNF Single-Track Hayasa

High Park morning run. I wasn't feeling 'it' today....for some reason, my core was very stiff, maybe from the cold?
...but, it was beautiful in High Park, very tranquil.

Hiking (Bushwacking) 1:00:00 [1]

High Park with Amik, after school. We purposely stayed off the trails, had to crawl few times to get through the thick bushes, branches hanging heavily with ice. Fun, fun, fun.....till we got to the pond's edge and I was explaining to Amik the dangers of walking on snow covered ice.....and crushed knee deep through it. Oh yeah, he laughed pretty hard:) We had to cut our hike short...

Running (Road) 46:47 [2] 7.07 km (6:37 / km) +9m 6:35 / km
shoes: TNF Single-Track Hayasa

A run that almost didn't start (I was procrastinating, finding excuses not to head out) turned out to be awesome. I wasn't even running that fast due to all the black ice, but for some reason, it felt great:)
Maybe it was Tony Robbins motivating me through the earphones....:)

Running (Road) 50:47 [2] 8.03 km (6:19 / km) +11m 6:17 / km
shoes: TNF Single-Track Hayasa

Long and intense week at work....glad it's almost over:)
It felt great to run outside again. The Waterfront trail was covered with ice and snow so it was a rather slow run.
