Road Running race (10K) 42:09 [5] 10.0 km (4:13 / km)
slept:7.5 shoes: £20 Lightweight Running Shoes

10K race in Victoria Park, put on by Victoria Park Harriers for the London Chest Hospital. After watching my housemate get around the 3K fun run as a three-legged entry, I ran the 10K, with around 700 other people. The course was three laps of a large part of the eastern half of the park. I don't normally like doing laps but this meant the spectators saw you four times and you also knew exactly what was ahead. The course was pretty much flat - the last few metres before the finish were downhill so I got a storming finish in.

I finished a second in front of the leading woman, but ten minutes behind the winner (running a 10K in 32 minutes is awesome.) I was aiming for 42 minutes, so it was annoying to be so close. My 5K split was 21:15, so I was a little too slow at the beginning. My left foot started to hurt after 7km, and I got a mild stitch after 8km.

My official race time will be 42:27, it took 18 seconds to cross the start.
This is probably going to be my PB for some time, as the course was extremely fast and flat, and it was sunny but not too hot - ideal PB conditions. Preliminary results here, I was 60th of 521.
