Note

@Bash and I have been discussing air quality due to wildfires and when it might become harmful or at least not beneficial to exercise outdoors.
Bash, your interpretation of a reference you provided suggested that a PM2.5 concentration of 50 ug/m3 might be the tipping point. My comparison of online readings versus when I felt the air looked and felt questionable made me think that 150 was the number. As it turns out, the 150 number I was looking at was more of an index of air quality. When converted directly to just PM2.5 concentration, it was also about 50 ug/m3.
I now found the following additional very relevant research paper.
https://www.mdpi.com/2413-8851/4/4/62
In summary, it says that 55 ug/m3 is the tipping point where exercising is no longer beneficial (hey, that matches what we thought) and 95 ug/m3 is the concentration when the exposure is more harmful than beneficial. These are based on a 60-minute run at moderate intensity (60% VO2 Max). The paper also provides concentration levels for different intensities.

Note

Skipped the Dirtbags interval session because the smoke concentrations were too high. Enjoyed watching more Yellowstone with Carbon.

Note

A buddy had really cranked his rim out of true when he replaced the rear hub motor for his e-bike. The shop told him he had wrecked it (it was really warped) but I was pretty sure we could just loosen off the spokes and true it again (and correct how he had relaced the spokes). The rim and nipples didn’t show any cracking. We worked through it over pizza and beers and felt very satisfied when we got it nice and true again, and saved him some money.

Note

Flyfishing around Powderface area with a couple of co-workers who showed me the ropes. Learned how to cast, figured out how to cast out more line and cast further, was getting the hang of placing the fly where I wanted, and even started to work on laying the fly down on the water more gently. Had a few bites including what was probably the biggest fish of the day but wasn't quick enough to set the hook in time.
Fun to simply walk right up the creek in the water while casting.

Buller Loop with Melissa and Laurent. Went counterclockwise this time. This direction has a steeper descent, I think, not as runnable.
A little tired from the day before.
