I thought you got an entry? Did I miss where you decided not to go or did I get my wires crossed altogether. Regardless lucky you didnt go! Deek has a group of indigenous runners he helps train up to run the NYC Marathon and they are all over there no doubt devo-ed that the race has been canned.

I had an entry but cancelled a few months ago when I realised that I was not going to be able to do enough training to justify the trip. The cancellation guaranteed me entry for next year so I figured I would be able to have another crack at it then. However, I am not sure what they will do having cancelled this year's race. I assume they will guarantee all this year's entries a start next year, so there may not be room for people such as myself who cancelled before the day. Will find out in due course I guess. While I feel sorry for all those who did make the trip (and glad I decided to skip it), it was the right decision to cancel - the diversion of resources straight after the hurricane would have been unconscionable. I read about Deek's group and it seems they are going to go help with the clean up. I saw the group of indigenous runners in last year's race - they were doing really well.

yeh agree that the cancellation was the right call. the indigenous runners did do amazingly well last year - I think one of them, who was coming from no running at all before the program, did 3hrs30.
