i reckon runs like that are so important if you want to go well at O. I lived in Oslo for a while (long time ago!) and at start i practically walked through the terrain. After a month of easy 40min runs with a few surges in the terrain the improvement was unbelievable.

That is so true. When I first came to France and was quite competitive in the H40 and H45 categories (aaah, those were the days!), I did a lot of terrain training - usually two sessions a week including one in Fontainebleau (fantastic granite forest). The impact on results was spectacular. Then along came a child and that put an end to much of that training possibility - but then I guess you know all about that aspect of the family/training interface :-). Now Freya is 5, I am seeing scope for getting back out into the terrain for training. Oslo would have been a cool place to live (literally as well as from an O perspective).
