Yeah, I hope you recover quickly too. USOF has you on their schedule for an early-March A-meet next year at Forest Park and Hawn.

Can you tell us what your club has in mind at this point? Would the Gateway Goat Grunt be an A-sanctioned event?

Plans have not changed since my last post on the subject.

OK. I thought that was only blue-sky stuff, didn't realize you were going forward with a one-day A-meet that also offered a goat.

Sounds like a fun weekend...for people not too interested in ranking points. Which certainly includes me, and most others in Chicago. But I don't know about people coming from further away.

We don't get too many from further away anyhow, so we might as well focus on making it fun for the folks who do come.

Clark, note: With both Hawn and sprint A-sanctioned (presumably), people will be able to get in 2 A events. Then enjoy themselves on the Goat on Sunday.

The Friday sprint will definitely be sanctioned. Probably not the Saturday Fundraiser, although it would count for the Sprint Series.

I don' t know about that. Didn't your last two A-meets attract well over 200 competitors? SLOC maps, and particularly Hawn, are legendary throughout the orienteering community. It seems to me that when SLOC offers an A-meet, your attendance rivals the Pig...which is 350 miles closer to the O-zone.

Not quite that much. The Al Smith meet got around 220, but I think a lot of that was paying tribute to Al. Intercollegiates got 170 and Team Trials (which used our 2 best maps) got 150. As this is not a championship event, I'm not expecting much over 100. Of course I'd be delighted to have more.
