Report from the vax clinic: After several quiet months, we were busy again! I had expected this to happen last week and was quite disappointed then. It's great that people are showing up now! No new age groups have become eligible this week but there's a sense of urgency to get immunized:
- Before Christmas
- Before Omicron takes over
- Before the 50-69 year-olds become eligible on Monday morning.
The bonus is that most adults at the clinic are happy to be there. Some of the kids are proud and excited, especially after their shot. When I congratulate them, almost all of them smile. They like getting their photo taken against the Vaccine Superhero backdrop, which makes them appear to be flying with a cape.
I chatted with three clients who were getting their 1st shot. I thanked all of them for coming and we talked about their rationale. Two of them had to get the shot to keep their job; they were polite but didn't want to be there. The other said he just figured it was time; he'd like to travel someday and he figures it will be necessary. All three seemed a bit surprised that we made them feel welcome and they responded in kind.
