Sumas WJR. Super nice terrain and course by Stan Woods. Had a really clean race and starting to feel a bit in shape. Gilles was ahead of me by a minute at 40 min mark, but then he made a 2 min mistake on 18 and another 45 sec at 19. He was moving a bit faster through the woods for sure.

A month with 15 hours of training! That hasn't happened in 4 years... :)

Run up to Princess Park, trying out the Oroc 280s again for a bit longer run. Hmm... I actually feel the left achilles a little bit, darn, I guess I might have to retire those shoes after all.

5 hill repeats. Felt good. High summer weather.

Orienteering - Forest - Race 24:59 [4] **** 3.68 km (6:47 / km) +112m 5:53 / km

Sage Stomp XXX - Sprint. Very challenging forest sprint. Vague vegetation and lots of rock made it tough. Missed the first control with a parallel error and lost over a minute. Ian S almost caught up to me there, but then I had a good flow for a while and pulled away. Missed 8 by over a minute, when I was left of the control in the wrong boulder cluster and Ian S spiked it. Switching leads with Ian for the rest, until he ran away the last couple of controls.

Sage Stomp XXX - Score-O. 3 hour event where I set my own private 90 minute limit. Fun running with Adam, Ian S and Ben for the first part. Split up at control 90, which we couldn't find by a pond. Then it was Adam and me going up to the controls on the massive hill and then I did a few coming back to the finish so Andrea could go out. Nice training! Cloudy and a bit rainy.

Sage Stomp XXX - Long. The nice forested slope in the southwest corner of the Gardens Creek map, which was only used once at the WCOCs in 2007. Had a really solid race with the navigation, only 2 little hooks and hesitations, on controls 12 and 13. Not very strong in the running, walking all uphills. A couple of nice long route choice legs with lots of options. Warm sunny day.

Running - Trail 27:40 [2] 4.78 km (5:47 / km) +117m 5:09 / km

Short run to test out my old Oroc 280s, which have been shelved since West point 2012 where they caused an achilles problem which then took almost a year to clear up. It was always a bit odd though, since I had used the 280s for several years before 2012 with great result...

Anyways, they felt great for this short run, so I'll bring them to Sage Stomp and at least use them in the sprint.

(sick)

Test running on Parkhurst basemap. Super sweet terrain! World class. Pretty steep in places, but much less gnarly than One Duck across the road. Basemap pretty close to the finished map, just add in the cliffs and boulders... :)

Pretty sick though, nose a virtual tap. Oliver was super sick. 6 days of burning fever, not eating anything. Finally over it now.
