Adventure Race race 3:25:50 [4]

Paddy Pallin adventure race with Dad and tim.

First leg - orienteering in Majura Pines - 36.57. Tim set a fast pace but slowed pretty quickly at the first hill thankgod. Navigation was pretty easier, no mistakes.

Second leg - 34.24 - Rode from Majura Pines across to the edge of Ainslie - no probs, one big hill but all good

Third leg - 38.48 - Another orienteering leg on the Mt Ainslie map. Slightly harder navigation than the Majura bit but still fine.

Fourth leg - 43.02 - Rode from Ainslie to Grevillia park at the lake. Had to get a few controls on the way, few route choice mistakes to the first couple but after that it was pretty easy.

Last leg - 51.39 - kayak/running/swimming - Kayaked down the lake/river mouth (about 2km) then had a run to get some controls on the other side of the river, then a swim back across and run to finish.
Lost a bit of time here cause we were all tired, especially Tim cause he usually does minimal exercise, and walked most of the run bits. Dad also can't really swim very well at all so lost a bit on the swim.

Was a fun morning - looking foward to the one in Feb

To/from the Acton ferry terminal around to the museum

Running intervals 20:00 [5]

3 x intervals around the museum. 2 in the 'downhill' direction and 1 'uphill'.
Was pretty buggering but felt better on the 3rd than the 1st

Orienteering 51:05 [3] 4.8 km (10:39 / km)

Bluetts West - Started off well in the open area but slowed down heaps in the thicker/rockier stuff. A couple of mistakes/bad route choices closer to the end when I was tired.

Monday Nov 24, 2008 #

Running 1:02:34 [4]

Jog/run from campsite at Kioloa caravan park along beach the south and then up the headland for a bit, back down the beach to the other headland, along river to the bridge/road, crossed river and followed back down to the beach, along beach to the next headland and back

beach cricket/tennis 1:30:00 [2]

Played beach cricket for about 2 hrs - lots of running after the ball
Later in day played tennis for about an hr
Also swam at the beach a bit - lots of jumping waves etc

Figure this stuff adds up to about 1.5hrs of low level exercise
