Running 54:00 [3] 5.5 mi (9:49 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 19

Running with Sam and Presto on Mt. Tam in the rain! We headed out for a nice run up the railroad grade fire road to West Point Inn on Mt Tam. It was pouring and super foggy, which was super awesome after all the smoke. Presto was mildly displeased with the weather, and seemed confused about why we were making him do this. There were only a few other brave souls out on Mt. Tam, including, somewhat surprisingly, 4 nuns hanging out under a big tree with an umbrella in full nun regalia halfway up the mountain. This may be the most surprising thing I have ever seen while trail running. Super fun run and a great day for hot chocolate as soon as we finished!!!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Stretching back home.

Running 31:00 [3] 3.5 mi (8:51 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 19

Pre-Thanksgiving run with Presto! I wasn't planning on going on another run this morning, but it was so beautiful, and what better way to start Thanksgiving than with a nice run :-). It was glorious and Presto was very happy to get out. Then we headed over to my aunt and uncle's for Thanksgiving dinner (well, really lunch...). Super fun day!

Stretching after getting back from my aunt and uncle's.

Biking 20:00 [3] 6.0 mi (3:20 / mi)

Double commute in the rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Running 30:00 [3] 3.1 mi (9:41 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 19

Running with Sam and Presto after lab! Woohoo! The air is pretty much back to normal. Yay for the rain! It felt fantastic to get out for a run this evening. It's been too long.

Strength 5:00 [3]

Normal abs. Running didn't feel all that much harder than usual, but I can tell I haven't done abs in a while...

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching.

Biking 20:00 [3] 6.0 mi (3:20 / mi)

Double commute. The air quality appears to be improving! We spent most of the day in the "unhealthy" category, but it seems like we may finally be dipping down into the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" category. Hurray!

Biking 20:00 [3] 6.0 mi (3:20 / mi)

Double commute.

Back to the smoke. I felt substantially better this morning than I have for the past week or so. Waking up without a headache is excellent. I'm wearing my N95 mask all day today, which is annoying, but means that my throat and head don't hurt too much, so yay.

UC Berkeley is closed due to air quality until after Thanksgiving, but of course, we are all still in lab because lab. Sadly, also all my rehearsals this week are also cancelled due to the smoke, although playing the flute is not actually that much fun when the air is this bad. I'm really hoping for some nice steady rain in the near future!

Hiking 4:00:00 [3] 9.5 mi (25:16 / mi) +850m 19:46 / mi
shoes: Saucony Peregrine

Hiking with Sam and Presto up Granite Chief! Sam and I decided that we really needed a break from the smoke, so we set off for Tahoe today. The air is SO MUCH BETTER HERE. It turns out breathing is highly underrated. It was nice to not feel the dragging exhaustion that seems to come with the bad air all the time.

Aside from all the Squaw Valley infrastructure, this was a gorgeous hike. Actually, even the Squaw Valley stuff wasn't that bad, it just would have been nicer without it :-). Apparently they have been making snow at Squaw, so there were these kind of hilarious snow roads surrounded by completely dry dirt. The views from the top were a bit hazier than usual, but it was so nice to be up in Tahoe. Presto also seemed extremely happy to be out on a hike with breathable air. I think he's been kind of confused about what's going on.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching back at home. My throat actually doesn't hurt for the first time in a while. The trip to Tahoe was an excellent decision!
