orienteering 1:32:37 [4] 5.7 km (16:15 / km) +185m 13:59 / km
spiked:13/16c

Mt Penn Pagoda - Green. Spiked most of 'em. Only lost a little time on the others (about :30 on #9, about :10 on #14) except #11 was a real nightmare. I fell down about 8 times coming down the hill which was covered in loose rock. In all, I feel very confident about my navigation, and I wasn't feeling too good about my physical condition going into today but I feel much better after what was a good solid run.

hiking 37:22 [3] 2.4 mi (15:34 / mi)

Middlecreek. Conservation trail and Valley View trail (was climby, but worth it to stand at the vista) Wish I could have stayed longer, but had to get back to the staff meeting...

Sunday Oct 20, 2002 #

hiking 28:42 [1] 1.5 mi (19:08 / mi)

Exploring Kline's Run Park. Not really much to it. I was going to cross the fence onto the farm and hike up to the old graveyard, but I kept hearing gunshots so I didn't. I think Ron was allowing hunters today.

walking 29:21 [2] 2.1 mi (13:58 / mi)

Rail Trail --> Brillhart to Hyde.

trail run 20:18 [3] 2.1 mi (9:40 / mi)

Returning. Shin splints seem to be coming back. Aaaaaargh!

The past few days I've thought a lot and realigned my goals, put some aside, and picked a few to concentrate on. It's a lot less stressful to handle things one at a time. Nobody can do it all at once.

trail run 17:39 [3] 1.75 mi (10:05 / mi)

Angry at myself...blowing off some steam.

walking 28:41 [2] 1.75 mi (16:24 / mi)

Returning. Feeling somewhat better. Only somewhat.

orienteering 1:29:09 [4] 4.0 km (22:17 / km) +250m 16:59 / km

Camp Mack, Red. Bailed around control 6. A bad day (climb-wise) to move up, plus I just didn't have the gas in my tank today. I felt good as far as navagation goes, though, spiked the first 5 which were really all I attempted. Back to Green for me....at least for awhile.

hiking 1:08:32 [3] 3.5 km (19:35 / km)

Bailing back to the finish. It was a nice hike though. Even though I didn't finish, I still had a fun day, and I know not to overestimate myself next time ;-)

(Oh yeah, all these times, distances, etc. are totally approximate.)

Wednesday Oct 9, 2002 #

walking 50:22 [2] 3.0 mi (16:47 / mi)

Rail Trail - Hanover Junction to mile marker 9 and back

Tuesday Oct 8, 2002 #

hiking 1:19:46 [3] 5.0 mi (15:57 / mi)

Spring Valley park. I got L-O-S-T cause the b&w not-to-scale park map S-U-C-K-S. As I was walking along, thinking that this would make an interesting o-map, I came upon.....a trim course marker!!! Is there an o-map of this park? And if so, who the hell has it? I can't seem to find any information about it...ah, the mystery thickens...

orienteering 1:29:37 [4] 5.62 km (15:57 / km) +210m 13:26 / km
spiked:10/11c

Ridley Creek - Green. One of those days where I felt like I was climbing the entire time. Very thorny...my legs have a million scratches. (My o-suit, however, is mockingly hole-less.) I'm going to be picking pieces of this park out of my flesh for the rest of the week. Still, a beautiful run. One boom (#9, about 1:30) and hit the rest dead on.

Wednesday Oct 2, 2002 #

map walk 1:04:20 [2] 4.5 km (14:18 / km)

Gifford Pinchot

biking 22:28 [3] 3.5 mi (6:25 / mi)

Rail Trail from Brillhart Station to Howard Tunnel and back. Since I drove the Explorer for today, I could actually take the bike out. I wanted to go all the way to Gladfelter Station, but my body reminded me just how long its been since I rode the bike.
