running 15:00 [2]

Warm up jog on the trails near the start.

orienteering race 1:00:00 [4] ***
ahr:165 12c

PTOC red course on a new map at Blue Springs.

Dick L. did a nice job of using a small area with lots of green.

I had a nice run - hesitation at a couple of controls but otherwise a very clean run. I had some trouble stumbling around in the forest (twice caught my foot on ruined barbed wire fences).

Some strong wind today. PTOC has one of those bit Coleman camp stoves that they use to heat drinks for post-race refreshments - the wind blew it over.

running 30:00 [2]

Feeling much better today, so I dropped by PNS on the way home and jogged around a bit. I also did 2 x 3 x short/hard sprints. Those are starting to feel both faster and better.

Note

The plan was to run, but I felt kind of crappy (might be allergy related?). Took a day off and I'll go to sleep early.

Easy but a bit hilly at Wyandotte. Can't say my legs felt very good. But, it was fun.

running 30:00 [2]

Jogged around a bit at PNS in a light rain. I spent a few minutes watching some turkeys wander around.

I saw a few people on the trails, which surprised me given the rain.

I didn't see Shaq. I didn't see Gail.

running 1:30:00 [2]

Given how I'd felt yesterday, I was a bit worried about how I'd feel today. I decided to take it easy - a run on the river trails would be perfect.

I felt pretty good.

After the run, I dropped by Sunflower to do a little shopping and bumped into Dave Frei. That was a big surprise. It turned out he was in Lawrence for an adventure race.
