orienteering 55:00 [4]
ahr:165 11c

PTOC race at Landahl. I had a decent run, felt pretty good and didn't lose much time except for trying to get across the streams and an occassional trip in to some thorns. Snorkel ran but seems to have had his mind on something other than orienteering (he made two 180s, including leaving the start triangle heading the wrong way).

running 15:00 [2]

I jogged around the white course to cool off a bit.

orienteering 1:00:00 [4]

PTOC night O' (score course) at Burr Oak Woods. I began feeling good, but with legs a bit tired from the morning's run. At the 40 minute point I came to a little 2 or 3 line hill with lots of downed trees from the ice storm a year or two ago. As I started up the hill my legs felt dead. The last 20 minutes my legs felt tired.

cycling 30:00 [1]

My legs felt sore today. I suspect that's because of how I ran yesterday (about 90 minutes, followed by standing and sitting around in the cold, followed by 25 minutes in the forest). I was going to take today off, but decided a little time on the bike, while the pizza dough was rising, might do me some good.

orienteering 1:30:00 [2]

I hung markers for tonight's night O' practice. Then I re-ran most of Nadim's relay O' pracitce course. By the time I was done it was getting dark enough that I had trouble seeing the map.

orienteering 25:00 [2]

I picked up controls from the night O' practice. We had a decent turn out: Snorkel, Mean Gene, Keith, Mary, Mike S., Loren and Angela.

A short ride on the trainer.

running 30:00 [2]

Jogging at PNS (another run with the headlamp).

running 15:00 [4]

5 x 3 minutes at an honest effort (even a bit harder than an honest effort), with 3 minutes of jogging to rest. I ran on the Old Kate Trail at PNS. Lots of creatures of the night in the park. I saw lots of eyes shining back at my headlamp.

running 1:25:00 [2]

Mary, Susan, Patrick and I went to the Tennessee Valley area in Marin County. I ran, they hiked. Actually, I ran a bit then met them and we walked a bit, then I ran a bit more. I climbed a couple of big hills. Around KC I can't get more than about 4 minutes of climb, so climbs that lasted 20+ minutes feel tough. Legs felt tired afterwards. I hate to think how bad they'd have felt if I hadn't been doing a bit of hill training this year.
