Orienteering race 29:30 [5] 4.76 km (6:12 / km) +90m 5:40 / km

BOC relay, Skelder. M40 team with Andy and Nick, putting the band back together after a long gap. Cracking terrain for a relay with bushy vague but runnable forest that meant first leg runners were coming back with big gaps and tales of woe. Both Andy and Nick coped with it really well and I went out first with a big lead, although I didn't know it. I had a good run and really enjoyed myself, atoning for yesterday's rubbishness. Best of all though, Alex had a cracking run in the mini relay for 2nd and Jenny won her course too!

Orienteering race 1:53:00 [5] 17.8 km (6:21 / km) +393m 5:43 / km

BOC long, Mulgrave. Really fun course starting in Skelder, where I managed to miss almost every control. I was just rushing a bit too much, which was costly in the bushy terrain. I probably lost about 5mins here getting caught and passed by Phil in the process. Committed to keep pushing anyway and managed to get into a bit of a race with Phil for a few controls before he roasted me on a clever route choice on the long leg. I opted for quite a straight route, but ended up getting quite stuck climbing down and up from a marked river crossing. It was a bit strange here that there were black and yellow tapes that you needed to cross to get to the marked crossing. Anyway, ran OK after that until getting completely caught out by the fence crossing point trap, where I was slow to cotton onto the fact I was looking on the wrong bit of slope. Bit demoralised after that but enjoyed the ridge run and the last few climbs. Good tough classic race, just a shame not to do it justice.

Hiking 2:00:00 [0] 8.0 km (15:00 / km)

Fossil hunting walk from Staithes. Not a really long walk in distance, but lots of clambering over rocks and I spent most of it with a very heavy pack full of rocks. Out for well over four hours and must have been carrying a good 15kg by the time we hiked back to the car. Lots of ammonites found.

Running 1:03:06 [2] 12.25 km (5:09 / km) +496m 4:17 / km

Feeling stiff from the heavy bag earlier so felt I needed this. Nice scenic run S past Whitby Abbey and on towards Robin Hood's Bay. Would have liked to go further, but was plenty tired enough by the end so it was probably a good job I turned around.

A faster lap of Eccy Woods, feeling good again, finally.

Running 1:19:31 intensity: (29:31 @2) + (50:00 @4) 6.17 km (12:53 / km) +135m 11:37 / km

Jog to explore from our cottage in Whitby. The seas were really high and battering the front, just about managed to slip by without getting wet. Did a few hill bounds up the ramps to the town.
