Orienteering race (Classic Green Course) 1:21:19 [3] 4.6 mi (17:41 / mi)
slept:7.0 shoes: Adidas Supernova Riot

TSN Southwest Spring B-Meet -- Day 3 (Classic).

#1 -- Went well.

#2 -- I got off my bearing but relocated quickly using the large boulder next to the trail.

#3 -- I went a long way down the wrong reentrant.

#4-5-6-7 -- OK, except for deviating way off my bearing on the way to #7.

#8 -- Sigh...I made a 180-degree error here. Then I got totally lost and lost contact with the map once I turned around and headed back in the right direction.

#9-10-11 -- Easy, and these went OK.

Not a great day for me performance-wise, but still fun. We spent the afternoon at the Desert Museum.

Orienteering race (Middle Blue Course) 1:15:25 [3] 4.5 mi (16:46 / mi)
slept:7.0 shoes: Adidas Supernova Riot

TSN Southwest Spring B-Meet -- Day 2 (Middle).

I decided to do the Blue course, since it was as short as yesterday's Green course.

I got way off my bearing on the way to #2, and I didn't realize it 'til I saw the trail and embankment just beyond the road.

#3-4-5-6-7 were OK, but not perfect. I'm going to blame all my deviations on cactus-dodging... :-P

I clearly wasn't thinking or planning on the way to #8. Obviously, I should have just followed the wash along the embankment that feeds directly into the control.

Another fun day. We spent the afternoon browsing at bike shops and playing Scrabble.

Orienteering race (Long Green Course) 1:25:49 [3] 4.6 mi (18:39 / mi)
slept:6.0 shoes: Adidas Supernova Riot

TSN Southwest Spring B-Meet -- Day 1 (Long).

I took the trail from #2 to #3. Even though it was longer, I assumed it would be faster than having to pick my way through all the rocks, cacti, and reentrants.

I overshot #8 by a little bit (I saw Isabel running back the other direction, but it didn't dawn on me that I should do the same until I had gone another 25 meters or so...).

I lost contact with the map about halfway in between #9 and #10, so I wasted lots of time there wandering and relocating.

Overall -- very fun! This was probably my best day of the three-day meet.

Afterwards, we went to see "Zero Dark Thirty", which I really liked...
