Spent the morning (and early afternoon) sitting around at Liam's tennis so had to force myself out for a ride in the afternoon. Decided on a lap of the river so I couldn't cut it short. Stayed close to the river going out and finished through KP to avoid any long stretches into the wind. Felt like a good workout, tired at the end.

Viveash Metro long course. Achilles had been getting better so I thought it could handle a Metro and I thought the long course was lower risk than the medium because I was less likely to get competitive and push the pace too much. Took my time out of the start and walked up the first little hill to avoid getting caught up in the race. Find myself stalking Matt around the first half but passed him when he dithered over a route choice. Tossing up route choice a bit over the risk of crossing some rough open and decided to take the chance. It was rougher than I hoped so a bit slow and full off grass seeds. Came out at the second last with Joseph and then had Tim appear at the last but managed to resist going for the finish sprint. Could feel the Achilles insertion a bit at times but overall it was very good.

Just the short route to work but I did work hard up the hill to get the repass in just before the top on and older roadie who had passed me near the bottom of the hill. Scratchy throat for the rest of the morning.

Ride home. Thought I was feeling really tired because I was labouring a bit up Malcolm St despite using my bottom gear all the way, which I often don't need use at all. Lifted the pace a bit towards the top to stop another cyclist on the road from going past me. I was a bit surprised I was able to hold him off in my bottom gear but then realised at the top that I was actually on the big chainring.

Easy run from the clay courts while Liam hit with the Div1/State League group. Went past Reabold to see if Scott was there as Liam needed a restring. Legs felt a bit stiff and tired all the way. Left heel was a bit sore, particularly in the first 3-4 minutes. Definitely worse than Tuesday but not too bad really. Took Liam's racket over to Scott after I finished only to get back and find he had broken another string while I was away.

Rachel was up for the Rosalie run so I thought I might as well get out early too as I often struggle to fit in any training when not working. Went for a flat ride down to Tawarri and then out to the causeway and back. Mostly fairly cruisy but put in a bit of effort near the causeway to make the most of the last bit of headwind.

To work via Dalkeith. Talked myself into it by telling myself I would just cruise around but did end up putting in a bit of effort. Had to wait two cycles of the lights at Stirling Hwy because I didn't trigger the sensor. Had to brake hard to avoid being taken out by a garbage truck overtaking me coming into the roundabout at Steves and then had to wait behind it when it had to stop for cars coming the other way just after the roundabout.

Easy run to the river and back with Matt and Liam. Pretty much pain free.
