The NIH relay.

Running race 3:09 [5] 0.84 km (3:45 / km) +10m 3:32 / km

Our workplace has a relay- five members in which two have to be of the opposite sex. We are the defending champs so we had to come out and defend our title. I ended up having the slowest time on our team by 14 secs. Did plenty to warm up just all that slow twitch will only do so much. I ran the fourth leg so lapping people and going by quickly. A couple of people cut out just in front of me so I made contact with two other runners. Our team won by 64 secs. of out 105 teams improving our best time by 8 seconds. total time = 13:50. Still when I run short I have the long run thinking. We were interviewed by the press afterwards and they took our pictures for the newspaper.

the course is not flat plus it was raining.

you would think after running like this at lunch I would be tired had no problem keeping this pace. Starting to make me think along with the biathlon of trying an ultra cross country race. I have run 50K and at least you can tuck on the downhills.

Ever so subtly changed my front hand standing and it made a big difference. easily hit 90% of the time! Tried the new metal targets now that the range allows it. It will be interesting if I can shoot as well standing again in a couple of days.

moved to another track which is better for the distance runner. Started off well and could not maintain it. Hate to blame it on the extreme humidity just not that great training. Jogged 400 in between each of these.

Another group was also training just very easy to train with since they were nice about letting us have lane 1 and cooled down in the outside lanes. The coach for this group talked to them about track etiquete before, but otherwise did nothing else to help or coach them just ran around the track.

starting to feel the shooting is stagnating again. After talking with one of the Olympians at the range he said with out a shooting jacket the prone shooting is just not going to get any tighter. For the most part I get 9's and 10's and he said with a jacket you will get at least one more point. The standing is another story so what to lose so I changed my stance some and dried fired hopefully I will try it with live ammo on Wednesday.

worked on the kneel shooting some which is just a train wreck. can barely hit the target and this is supposed to be almost as steady as prone. Shot some barefoot which I thought would be more stable, but about the same since I put my shoes back on and hit 20 for 20.
