Shooting 2:30:00 [1]

shot outdoors both prone and standing. also dry fired. realized once I had arrived that I only had 120 rounds in the car forgot to pick up my ammo bag on the way out the door. Also set my target and started to load when I turned around the target fell down so had to dry fire until the next target change. tried some new ammo from Germany this gave me fairly nice groups somewhat cheap ammo so also could be good to train with. Tried it standing and shot well. After not being allowed to compete with my 22 in any events now will be allowed to use it in competion outside of biathlon. The weight and loading is no longer an issue at least in a local event

Running 53:00 [1] 6.0 mi (8:50 / mi)

ran mostly on trails following the blazes and all of a sudden the trail just ended. I looked around a bit for blazes and could not find any so just ran off trail and after about five minutes a trail just reappeared. my shoes seems so loose so changed my orthotics plus added more padding to make the shoe fit tighter since my foot is moving around a bit in the shoe. Purchased a narrow shoe just still need to make it fit tighter. Went and ran another half mile after making this change did not add this mileage. Feels much better since I like my shoes fairly snug on my foot. planned to run long all the more time for mileage today.

Running 32:00 [1] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Weightlifting 25:00 [2]

much better versus two days though my legs are not exactly the best right now. The right is very strong and the left one lags significantly behind. Had no problem with 95 pds on single leg press with 20 reps with the right leg struggled to get three from the left side so dropped the weight to 70 pds to get in 20 reps. don't have any pains and use both when I run. with hamstring curl managed the same weight with only one less rep. Upper body did well managing 100 pds with lat pull down and easily doing 20 reps. have to really control it on the way up not let it just go since I am lifting close to my own body weight. massage on my shoulder on Wednesday helped since I was shooting earlier in the day and this made it recover faster.

Running 1:04:00 [3] 8.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

recovery day.

Running 32:00 [2] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

recovery run.

Shooting 1:30:00 [1]

shot prone and standing. 150 rounds.

Elliptical trainer warm up/down 10:00 [1]

before weightlifting.

Weightlifting 1:25:00 [2]

tried this new way to lift weights. Thought it would be "fun" just quickly became no fun when it actually requires coordination something I just don't have much of. went back to regular lifting doing well with some and really having problems with others. Shooting before did not help since I really felt the recoil this time in my shoulder. helped to recover quickly with a massage afterwards.

Running warm up/down 40:00 [1] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

before and after running marathon pace. No, I am not training for a marathon just running with others that are getting ready.

Running tempo 21:15 [3] 3.0 mi (7:05 / mi)

after racing on Sunday plus the five hour drive this is all the more speed and distance I felt like going. Never that particularily fast on this bike path plus had my trainers on with my water bottle. felt fine the whole way so not pushing it much. stayed with my group and ran back alone since they went four miles at marathon pace.

Yard work 30:00 [1]

mowed lawn and some weeding.

Sunday Aug 17, 2008 #

Shooting 1:30:00 [1]

zeroing before the race plus practice afterwards. winds shifting ever so slightly so tough to decide how to set the windage. Lots of competitors so range very busy.

Running warm up/down 24:00 [1] 3.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

warmed up, zeroed and ran some to check my windage. Did not want to change it again since it was close to the race time. No chance to shoot standing before the race started. Also ran carry some signage to set up before the race.

Biathlon race 26:37 [5] 3.4 mi (7:50 / mi)

Knew this would be a tough race to win with last month's National champ in the field. Race had staggered starts since the range can not accomodate everyone at the same time so she started two minutes before me. The course was on out and back so once I started knew how far I was behind especially after the first shooting stop. I think she only hit one prone and I hit two so this helped me catch up. Now I can only guess as to what happened next as she arrived at the range for standing before I did she missed all five shots and knew it was going to be close she dropped out. I hit three standing thus tieing my best shooting ever. I never realized she dropped out and I was really moving now that I knew it would be close to win. I never saw here out on the trail so I figured I missed here and came in to finish. Once I walked away from the finish line I saw her sitting in the grass figuring she was exhausted from the run.My husband knew what happened just he was busy volunteering since they were really short so could not even talk to me until later. After the race was over and the range reopened for practice I talked to her and she just walked away I knew something had happened...... I really thought she had beaten me. The five shot that missed were all low and just barely missing the hitting the target over. On the first time around my husband told me where the misses went so I adjusted which probably helped me get one more standing. The wind might have been in my face which also makes the bullet drop slightly just it was shifting some so not sure how the wind was on each shot. Improved by 40 seconds over my previous best time on this course.
