Running - Road/Track (Recovery jog) 34:33 [3] 7.1 km (4:52 / km) +77m 4:37 / km
ahr:151 max:167 shoes: Pegasus 35 (white)

Easy loop. Top of L arm aches, as it did yday. Maybe something legacy from last week's ultra? Or I've been sleeping funny.
Right hs still really tight so did some stretches and stuff.

Toss up between this and Ras Yr Aran but this fills up every year so thought I'd find out why. Conclusion: not sure.

Still feeling r hs/hf from green man last Sat, but assumed it could probably be fine.

Worst possible start; lined up on the front row and was faffing with removing coat and tying shoes etc, had just taken map out of pocket and someone miles away said go (apparently). Turns out the race was going the other way and I'd been literally on the back row. Sigh. So first few hundred meters was a sprint trying to get past everyone! Needed have tried so hard, it was wide for ages. Took about 2 mins to get to N, then we ran the first 4k or so together, in sight/with the lead group, until they disappeared going over the moor towards the res. Took the first dam just like everyone else did, although staying on the PW looks shorter to me! Chatting to a guy for about 10k who ended up finishing 10 mins ahead of me. He left me somewhere between 1 and 2. Cp grid reference given for 2 slightly incorrect, but no problem. Overtaken by a group of 6ish just before 3 which was dispiriting. Took farm track to 4 rather than footpath, felt bad since this was specifically forbidden - but everyone else was too. The fp was on the Lancashireman and it's really bad. Slightly lost losing a min or so at Stiperden thinking the path was through three farm whereas it's just after. Then up through Bank Top it didn't exist. But then fine after that and relatively straightforward and downhill ish all the way to Todmorden. Woman overtook me, offered me jelly beans and showed me a secret way down to the road, so that was nice. Passed by a few more, though. Steep field to 5 and then big climb to the monument, but over relatively fast. Then easy down, and then staying on the E PW branch seemed faster (which I did). Hill down to Hebden Bridge steep downhill tarmac was grim. Tarmac hill to heptonstall grim. Downhill nice to 8, then uphill for ages on track - grim - before down and up again - more grim. Then long down on a track before some more road uphill, before a nice jaunt through Penistone hill and descent into the finish (left after church, straight on, right down steps, cross road, finish literally in building).

Felt like a very long way, with loads of climb. Just kept going on. Under 5 achievable but probably won't bother unless it doesn't clash with anything! The 4 toenails I lost last week defo slowed progress, and the aches etc, but probably not enough to make up the +15 mins on N (6th).

Edale cancelled next week so unsure what's next atm.

Orienteering - Urban race (Tytherington with Em) 57:21 [2] 8.77 km (6:32 / km) +95m 6:12 / km
ahr:137 max:168 shoes: Pegasus 36 (Blue)

Em's first time street orienteering. She was pretty good, but it helped that she lived 5 mins away. Will be interesting to see how she gets on in a new area. And without me there holding her hand. Metaphorically.

Running - Road/Track (MaccH B/C Group) 1:17:47 [3] 12.58 km (6:11 / km) +104m 5:56 / km
ahr:140 max:156 shoes: Pegasus 35 (white)

Groups joined since torrential rain. Right hs sore but not too bad considering.
Three quarter length waterproofs worked like a charm.
