Road cycling 2:27:19 [3] 50.14 km (2:56 / km)
ahr:105 max:206 shoes: Bike: Beemer Auto

Around the river with Friday group. Eventful ride today; first up PP discovered after 1km that she had forgotten to put helmet on, and had to go back. This made us late for the rendezvous with Noel, and even later when Jerrat Rd was closed off (without any advanced signage) so we had to turn around and detour. Then Chas went missing so Noel and I stopped, and Noel went back to look for him. Turns out he nipped up Stirling Hwy and through the train station rather than do the Tydeman Rd truck gauntlet. Lots of trucks there today, as we'd just missed a mile-long goods train at the level crossing.

Don't know what's with the 206bpm, just looks like a blip on the HR log.

Orienteering race 1:02:23 [3] 5.2 km (12:00 / km)
ahr:112 max:157 shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280

H3 course at Edmund Rice College, Bindoon. GPS 6.28km. On the way to the finish from the last control I tripped (given the terrain, lucky not have had several falls) and fell chin and throat first onto a pointy termite mound about 40cm high. Knocked the wind right out of me and couldn't get up for a good minute, then walked the last 100m or so to the finish.

Walked a fair bit uphill to 1, and went wide to the right, 2mins off RW's pace, a bit slow downhill to 2, being careful with my footing in the rocky ground, and ended up a little wide to the left, 1:30 down. Downhill out of 2 was less rocky, so sped up a bit, then hit the indistinct track leading to the control, but was still 1min behind RW. Followed the indistinct tracks most of the way to 4, lost the track a few times but kept going and picked it up again. The green before 4 was further down the hill than mapped and went above it to the control. Another 1min down on RW. Went back to the saddle from 4, and uphill on the indistinct track, which I followed bearing left for 200m before veering off right and coming out just above 5 - 2nd fastest on this leg, gaining 3:30 back on RW. Then matched his time to 6 and took another minute back to 7 (going straight and ignoring the compass anomaly - needle was actually pointing closer to South than North). Matched RW again on 8, and was only 1min behind, but he blitzed 9 taking 3 mins off me. When I hit the fence ahead of 9 I could see an easy course control down the the hill, and thought it was at the fence corner. Since that put me right on track I kept going, but it turns out that control was at a track higher up and I was way too high. With low visibility in the whole area it took me while to find my control 9. Then I lost another minute and a half after the fall.

Happy with 3rd, will have to watch out for Craig's old man as he seems to have recovered from his nav troubles of last year.
