Official (AA track umpire) 1:45:55 [1] 4.38 km (24:13 / km)
rhr:58 slept:7.4 weight:64kg shoes: New Balance M520LK7 (black)

Australian All Schools Athletics Championships, WA Athletics Stadium, Floreat. Day 2 of 3. 8.30am-6.45pm. 28°C.
Events judged: 90-100m hurdles (4), 100m (6), 400m hurdles (5), 800m (4), 1500m (2), 2000m steeplechase (2), 3000m run (2), 3000m walk (2), 4x100m relay (2). Reported a steeplechaser for a one-step lane infringement (TR 17.2.4) - warning only.
Late in the day we had an intruder in the officials' room and had to call the cops to remove him from the stadium. At first we thought he might be an athlete waiting for someone. He asked for some water but made himself an instant coffee instead. When he started rummaging through our cold drinks esky we asked him to stop, which is when he suddenly became abusive. Tom from AA managed to get him out of our room and keep him occupied at the bottom of the grandstand until the police arrived. We still don't know how he got into the stadium without accreditation but I suspect he followed some people in from the warm-up area.

Official (AA track umpire) 1:47:45 [1] 4.49 km (24:00 / km)
rhr:55 slept:4.65 weight:64kg shoes: New Balance M520LK7 (black)

Australian All Schools Athletics Championships, WA Athletics Stadium, Floreat. Day 1 of 3. 8am-6.15pm. 24°C. Very windy - 4.4m/s on the wind gauge. I was last at this ground in March 2013 when Bethany & Adam ran as juniors.
Three teams of umpires this weekend so there were quite a few breaks when only one or two teams were needed. Events judged: 80-90m hurdles (4), 100m (7), 200m (8), 400m (7), 1500m (2), 2000m steeplechase (2), 5000m walk (2), 4x100m relay (4). No reports.
I almost forgot, a field official was seriously injured when struck in the face by a hammer quite early on Day 1.

Note

Sydney > Perth: Virgin 567, Boeing 737-800 (twin-jet), 3364km, 4h52m. Chasing the sunset from east to west. With Sydney forecast to reach 44° on Saturday, it's an Interesting concept travelling to Perth to find cooler weather. Finished the book I started on my NZ trip A Man Called Ove, renamed 'Otto' in the Tom Hanks' movie. I bought it for Roslyn last Christmas because Ove sounded just like her dad trying to buy an iPad in chapter 1.
