We remain; we go on. Provisions grow meager, our spirits scarce. Italian Wedding, or White Bean Chicken? Does it matter? Locally sourced gluten-free organic Neapolitan ice cream supply exhausted - the horror. Time draws out like a blade. Slowly, inevitably, doubts creep in, pile up like snowflakes, each different yet equally foreboding, equally oppressive. Have we lived? What is it - to live? We were young once. Winter and discontent and so on. Snow. Tyranny. No escape. Obliterates, eradicates, obviates; all is silence. There is only snow. Nothing has ever been, but snow.

But - there is us. We remain. We go on.

Same run from work as last time. This is a nice little route because you can avoid pavement for a goodly portion of it. Conditions icy; I slipped once and landed hard on my right butt cheek and shoulder, but avoided noteworthy repercussions.

Weather around here has been crazy of late. It snowed some inches on Sunday/Monday, which happens once or twice every winter, but usually we'll warm up during the day and the snow will go away. This time, it's stayed consistently cold enough - for several days in a row! - that the snow has stuck around and turned to ice. It's almost like the things that happen in places that have real winter are happening here.

What's more, the forecast calls for 5-8 inches more snow starting tomorrow, and even more next week, and no signs of higher temps for at least a week. One thing I read said this will be the most snowfall we've had since 1996.
